I offer a drink but I don't do small talk haha.
I tend to bugger off somewhere where I can't see them.
It's funny as I'm not usually an awkward person but it's such a weird feeling when you have workmen in your house. |

I'm fantasizing about a workman actually turning up. Three people so far have priced my jobs up, none have actually returned to do said jobs.

I do stuff on my phone or read.
I had a bit of a panic when one turned up last week to do an energy something or other, because I didn't know he was measuring rooms and windows.
I went to be that evening and felt relief that I hadn't left anything embarrassing out.

Why I used to work at people's homes I would prefer it if they just got with there day , dident really want to chat , even if they were hot lol , was there to a job and get in and out as quick as possible
The worse ones to do were middle aged women haha , they just hovers and tried to chit chat or men who new how to do everything and would tell constantly try to tell you that they coykd of done it themselfs " but " !!

I always find it awkward as fuck. Thankfully as my landlord lives upstairs and has a spare key I usually ask him to let them in/out and I work from the office instead. He's retired so he's always happy to keep an eye on them as I can't really work from home properly when they're being noisy. |

If you can, put the radio on. It breaks the awkward silence. Having been the workman in people’s houses many times, it can be awkward for everyone if it’s quiet. Nothing worse than feeling like you’re being watched and judged, even if you really aren’t. It’s nice if the radio is on and you settle and just get into your routine. You will end up with a better job, done quicker too I think. Self conscious workers cock up. |
