Is a word that gets thrown around alot willy nilly but is actually in some of the terms it is used rather indescript!!!!
Sometimes its used to mean "dim"
Or "stupid"
or "arguementative but not agreeing with your views"
When the word means underdeveloped, no ripe/mature, childish - it seems funny to me that the person brandishing the word is usually also guilty of being a representation of the word.

Some people assume maturity comes with age, I do not believe this is the case, I feel it comes with life experience, ability to have an open mind, to embrace different ideas and views, To push views and beliefs on another person is not being mature. To disagree with another person is fine, but to be able to absorb the other view and respect it as a persons choice without having to be sly or rude, is always grown up. To be able to know right from wrong, accept tongue in cheek and laugh when mistakes are made is mature. To speak how you feel don’t hide behind whispers to be upfront and open to not be scared to openly disagree, to not fear differences to embrace change.
To be able to spell fine, to know long words to not need spell checker and to not swear does not mean mature.
Some people are a smoke screen.
To judge leads to foolishness when you do not know a person.

I guess some of that depends on whether it is used (brandished) to describe the person or the act which a person has undertaken.
I don't like people who are mature all of the time, but I do like them to know when it's not the right time to be immature; and not find themselves being immature without conscious will… become immature because they are throwing a strop for example.

I also agree that alot of maturity comes with life experiences and not just with age.
Some people live in a bubble and dont really know much at all, where as others have been thru the mill and really can offer a range of ideas and opinions - sometimes not within the nice idealism of the person in the bubble - but so what.
We are each our own, and some of us are lucky not to have had too many bad experiences in life - but please dont frown upon those that have.

i think some people expect everyone to be the miserable sods they are and anyone havin fun that they dont approve of is immature or anyone who doesn not meet their ideal is immature!!

jacuzzi no but hotel swimmin pool that turned out like a jacuzzi!! the ripple up my back was too much and ended up nearly drownin with laughter while small person swam away disgusted!!!
