LOL

When I saw Jason Manford the other month he said he'd been to the Titanic museum in Belfast, where they are to put it mildly, very proud of the ship. He pointed out to one of the museum guides that it actually sank, to which the guide replied in a very scary Belfast accent, 'It was ALRIGHT when it left here!'

About 650. I read somewhere just over 2100 sailed and just over 1500 died.

To me the film that starrs Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio is boring and drags. Yet the soundtrack gets to me every time. Oh ald there was one "funny" line in it. There was a shorter film of it on tv ages ago and that was a better version. Wouldn't mind watching that again.

Royal Mail Ship? An the last tube was supposed to have been 'Autumn'. Until recently there was a commemorative plaque near the bandstand in Eastbourne for one of the band members of te titanic as he played at the grand hotel just up the road. The rivits ordered were described as 'best' but the best rivets are actually 'best best' accusing to a book I read so the rivets were weak.

Tube?! I meant tune. Also, had the titanic rammed the iceberg, the bow would have crumpled but it is thought the ship would have remained afloat and they would have turned faster had they kept full speed and not reversed the screws.

If you have a look on YouTube, you'll find the outtakes.

There's also about an hour of deleted scenes, some of which explain scenes left in the film (like how jack and rose met up the day after he saved her) and others which were based on true historical stuff (like Cosmo duff Gordon telling his lifeboat not to go back to save other people).

I actually quite like the deleted scenes, wish they'd kept them in.

There's also the original ending, which I think is better than the one they used, where bill Paxton holds the necklace before old rosé chucks it into the ocean

Titanic wAs not a steamer. She was a steam ship. There is a huge difference.

I'd argue that the blades of the low pressure turbine that powered the central four bladed propeller would have travelled the furthest due to the rpm of the the turbine.

Her sister Britannic holds two claims to fame, one is that she had the largest steam reciprocating engines ever made and also that she was the largest shipping casualty of the First World War.

Shod I mention the various parts of all three titanic class ships i own or the fast that I owned a postcard sent from the titanic at queenstown.

A useless question would be what was the name of the mail tender at queenstown that took mail to and from titanic.

If you're talking something physical on the ship, rather than any part of it's propulsion system, or sound/light waves, then the highest point of the ship would have travelled the farthest due to the curvature of Earth - probably the funnels.

Going by the clue you gave (or what I think is the clue lol) you mentioned "looking up".

If I remember rightly, the binoculars for the crows nest were left behind in Southampton. Were they used for something else after the sinking?

Nah. The extreme points on the main propellor would have travelled forward the same distance as anything attached to the vessel + the rotational distance of their circumference x the revolutions per minute x the number of minutes they were turning.

Costa Blanca Spain...

"10 points for naming the ship that rescued the survivors ,,,,,

no Go-ogling allowed... "

It was Carpathia, but. If the "Californian" under Captain Lord had come to the rescue instead of just sitting in the ice field and ignoring radio massages and distress flares, most (if not all) of the Titanic's passengers could have been saved

As a footnote. The Carpathia managed to break its own speed record (from its sea trials) to be the first ship on the scene after the sinking.

Newcastle-under-Lyme

Claim to fame - my brother used to live in the house that Capt. Edward Smith was born in

There is now a local brewery called Titanic that makes some very fine ales, all with names relating to the ship. Be careful of the Wreckage @ 7.2% though

I live 1/2 a mile from the Titanic museum and can see the dock Titanic set sail from out of my bedroom window - I have some of the same company bottles used on the ship dredged up from Southampton Water on various fishing trips. Wish I could prove they were from the Titanic though.
