If you had arranged (as a couple) to meet a single male/female (socially) and your partner was for some reason unable to meet (illness/ work etc) would you still meet the person with whom you made the arrangement in order not to let them down?

It was something that we were discussing last night on our way to meeting a single person. Just curious really what people think?

Bolton

We wouldn't go ahead with the meet, the other person arranged to meet a couple so I think that they would rather have a cancellation than just meeting one person. Also, may appear to be dishonest, ie. a single man pretending to be a couple then saying at the last minute that his partner couldn't make it. Z

It would depend on how well we know the person,if it was a first meet then definately no but if it was friends and the other partner would be able to turn up later then of course that would be fine

I think we'd give them the choice although happily reschedule if they'd prefer.

"I think we'd give them the choice although happily reschedule if they'd prefer."

That sounds about right to us.

Nope ! We do everything together or not at all, so if one of us was ill, say after eating £5 BBQ food from Iceland, we'd have to cancel the meet ..

trust you to see the logical conclusion lol - we arrived at the conclusion that if humanly possible we would reschedule = we hate letting people down but then we would not meet separately, so seems like the only option really.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I have to be honest - from my point of view it would very much depend on which half was unavailable.

Id reschedule, if im meeting someone from here that is supposed to be a couple, id want to meet both, and if they insisted, id call it of and i wouldnt verify either. They might afterall be a single guy in reality rather than a couple, or one half of the couple happens to be married to someone else, that to me is not a couple
