Maybe once they started messaging you they decided you weren't for them? |

They got bored thats all
I think the only lack of manners would be them not being able to tell you instead of just ignoring you,but this is the internet and people behave a little odd sometimes
A wink and a chat doesn't automatically mean its a definate meet |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I don't even look at the wanks or the friend invites. I wouldn't even think of thanking them.
Perhaps there is a thread running about how rude people like me are for not thanking wankers and those offering friendship?

I don't really get the point of the wink function. Either in internet-land or the land outside!
If someone is interested then surely a message is more appropriate/well mannered?
They may as well have a 'pinch bottom' tab, I don't get that in non-internet land either! |

I used to wink and i didn't think i was being rude, unless of course they said 'no winks'.
My profile used to be quite extensive. So, if i did catch their eye then there was more than enough information (from my part) for them to decide if they wanted to message me or not. I always thought my profile showed a bit of my personality..and it has worked on many occasions.

on here I have meets based on initial winks...it says I have looked and liked or they have..pretty simple tool that can be effective. |

"does your head in why wink and then not follow it up ??"
My thoughts exactly, i got a wink from a lady the other day, so i sent her an email to thank her for the wink, no reply from her and she just deleted my email?
I just find it really odd that people do that. |

I can see the point in winks especially for single guys who may send trillions of messages, not having a clue if the recipients may be interested in them. It can be soul destroying for many, and likely wouldnt also mean they dont send personalised messages to others without winking. It is a fab norm for messaging to hang, not hear more or to be blocked if its not going further. Would you prefer an automated reply paying things are not going further? If so you can always suggest it. Otherwise people lead busy lives and busy fab messaging lives. Maybe swap phone numbers earlier, as you may get others telling you that its not something they wish to continue with, compared to fab email dead ends. |

Or they comment in the same the forum as you or you invite them to a party and they don't reply! Manners cost nothing, a polite thanks but no thanks costs nothing. But then again I would not wanna meet someone like that anyway so at least you find out early on |

I send winks by accident....I know this as I sent one to ourselves not long ago so I have probably sent other people them too...
Maybe the person did the same. |

A wink is an ice breaker, I use them a lot, if I get w wink back I send a message.
However I've started conversations with people I've winked and then decided they weren't for me. Yes I usually say I'm no longer interested, but can appreciate that some people might just delete and avoid any confrontation.
I don't consider it rude and let's be honest there are thousands of other people on the site to move on to. |

Somewhere in North Norfolk |
I contacted a hot guy who winked me recently, which is very unusual for me. He replied basically telling me not to be so daft for saying he's hot and didn't respond further.
I figured he winked by accident, changed his mind, was expressing something other than interest in getting to know me by winking, was put off by my message or one of many other possibilities.
I didn't worry about it and moved on. I certainly don't consider him rude. I'd like to have got to know him but if it isn't to be then it isn't. There's no point wasting energy on it.
I wouldn't want him chatting to me if he's not interested, just because he thought he ought to. |
