Do people say your phone voice is much different from your face to face voice, I got told I answer it nice and then sound like a docker once I know who it is |

Even my workmates get confuzzled when its me on the phone.

Interesting one, because I think your voice changes depending on whom you are talking to... in business I have been told I sound very efficient, whoops... in the scene it is a bit more husky...;-) |

We have our calls recorded and get them monitored for quality assurance. Had mine played back once so I could hear where I had made an error. My file passed but OH MY GOD my voice is awful. have never listened to one since. Posh voice for me now........well sometimes |

I do have a 'phone voice', embarrassingly.
I was the first male born in my family for over 30 years, the only male influence I had was my grandad who was often working so my influences were by far predominantly female, I know I have certain traits a little more feminine than expected, but took me years to realise why if ever I ordered a take away or taxi or the likes the guy often called me love, then one day it hit me, I so sound like a woman on the phone, I'm softly spoken as it is but I soften my voice even more, I do now try to not do that so much, lol |

I spent a lot of time with my grandfather who spoke "Mill Lancashire", very broad Lancashire accent.
I then went to Grammar school where it was frowned upon and was given elecution lessons, whish was ok, but the minute I came out of school I reverted back to Lancashire.
My first job was a receptionist so I reverted back to the elecution lesson voice.
I now have a mix. If I am talking business my 'posh' voice comes out. I have a neutral voice, but when excited or angry I can hear my Grandads voice coming out |
