Only time will mend a broken heart, and some hearts are unmendable, time just softens the pain.

The old cliche; time heals all wounds. Well, it at least does a lot of repairing. Don't keep it in either.

Dedicate time to make a life size effergy of the person responsible for said broken heart, then build a massive bonfire, so big they'd see it from Space. Then climb it and pop that effergy on top. Then burn it, as you watch you'll be overwhelmed with relief.

And you'll be too knackered to think about him for at least a week.

Just remember. This too shall pass.

Just go through the stages until it no longer hurts. Might be on the inward stage now where you think of things you could have done, then you'll have the hope stage where you hope for a reconciliation, maybe the realisation stage where it all sinks in but these stages can happen in any order. Just know that you won't feel like you are forever. If your future self could have a word with you now she'd tell you that this will pass and you will feel good again.

You'll get stronger each day and eventually you will find yourself sighing instead of crying.

Keep busy

Like everyone else has said, time is the best healer. Lots of cuddles and support from friends can help in the meantime too.

If you need to talk or anything I'm always around 3

Don't shut yourself away. Worst thing you can do. Just be with people you trust.

I'm a great fan of counselling - talking to someone who doesn't know you is often very helpful. Got me through both of my divorces.

It hurts but have faith that time does dull the pain.

Walking in the countryside helps me clear my head a little when things are tough, and also putting my situation in perspective and remembering all I have to be thankful for, plus that fate knows how things should be and usually has my back, helps gives me strength.

Oh it’s such a horrible feeling. Unfortunately, you can’t forward time to the point where you’ll be feeling better, but in the meantime fill your days with friends and hobbies or new challenges. Chin up x

There is a book that I found really helpful that is called "It is called a breakup because it's broken". It is written with a humorous perspective but lots of really good tips.

Thanks for the recommendation...might check it out if I'm still sobbing into my pillow in a week or two.

See if your library has it, or if you can get a copy for a couple of pounds on Amazon. Even if you are not at all sobbing into your pillow it's still really is worth your time.

It has made a difference to me and also too many friends I have recommended it to you in their time of turmoil.
