I started to watch the new series of the handmaids tale , now bad on me I haven’t seen the first series , but what the hell is it about , I am totally lost lol

I've watched it all and I'm confused too! It seems to be going back and forth in time I struggle to keep up!

I bought the book ages ago, haven't started it yet. I've not watched any of it on telly either.

Yes, just when you think it can’t get any darker, they manage to find a completely darker shade of dark!

It's actually really interesting. The first series, based on the book, includes many issues that are happening now but people don't realise yet when they are in print or in screen they rage about how barbaric it is.

This series has obviously moved away from the book so the writers have a bit more freedom with where they take the story.

I've read the book and the foreword says that the tale is an historical account in the fictional world depicted kinda like Anne Frank's diary etc and there definitely isn't a happy ending, it finishes rather abruptly in fact but the series are continuing on in a similar vein as what they think would have happened if she got to tell the whole story
