A friend here, having had a social and given her telephone number for whatsapp has had increasing malevolent messages as he wont accept no for an answer.

Wondering if anyone else has had similar?

I should point out it was on a "reputable" dating app. Of course fabbers are made of finer stuff and accept rejection with good grace and charm.

Blocked on OKC. Blocked on whatsapp but got a little scared and even deleted whatsapp. I said that was pointless as he has her phone number anyway and could easily work out where she lives

Why would a phone number indicate where someone lives?

Multiple whatsapp messages then getting more aggressive and threating when she didn't reply. Foolisly she gave him a lift so he knows the car.

Men are hunters. If he knows the car and a rough area, he'll find the address. It's not difficult. Very unlikely he'll act upon it but no-one wants a creepy note on the windscreen

Just curious if this happens much and if it affects future behaviours and trust?

Men never feel threatened as...well it's not in our nature.

Never came across any bunny boilers.

You describe your friend as 'foolish'

Do you know what its like to field unwanted advances from arseholes?

People who have their own agenda going on

And wont take no as an answer?

You can still see the conversation after they're blocked.

Glad to see you've been a you'd friend abd putting her mind at rest lol

If she's really concerned she should go to the police.

There are female stalkers I’m sure, it’s not only one gender who have that trait.

I am more worried about your friend. Hope she’s ok.

And yes I’ve had a stalker type. I changed how I even do socials as a result.

Foolishly gave him a lift. Of course had he been a good 'un it wouldnt have been foolish at all. 20/20 hindsight.

No, I have no idea what it's like fending off arseholes with an agenda.

Men only get replies and 99% polite as they dont want any comeback.

Women rarely send unsolicited messages. Only ones I've received have turned out to be men haha. So maybe i should have said yes?

It’s only hearsay though isn’t it. You could potentially be calling someone who hasn’t actually done anything.

Yeah...I had one that gave me screaming nightmares for a fortnight - and I don’t scare easy. Block and report and if she’s really worried, log it with the police now, rather than later. She needs to keep a record of all the messages too. (She can see those even if blocked).

I didn’t meet him here it was on some free dating app, he friended me on Facebook which at the time thought was harmless enough but then when he got a bit too much he started messaging people on my friends list and one of them was my sons friend who was 17 at the time, making up all this bullshit about me. He would literally try and phone me all night long, this went on for a couple of days and decided the block button was my friend and never to accept friend requests from weirdos of the internet again, well kind of, I accepted my now husband from here but he wasn’t a weirdo (well he is my weirdo but that’s a different story).

I only found out through work a month ago if you have a car registration number for a fee DVLA will give out the registered keepers address. However much like the electoral roll you can have details removed from the general lists. As my Employer feels some staff can be at risk they are paying to to remove some vehicle details.

Thought so. I'll tell her. It was only a couple of days age o.

Think WA backups only available for a week though. Just enough time to get a broken phone replaced and backed up. Not if its gone to the menders though.

Aparently what set him off is that she read the numerous Whatsapp messages but hadn't replied. If that was a fabber crime, you'd all be in trouble.

So, don't give out number. Stick within fab . use anonymous messaging for convenience like kik. Although for that very reason some kik messages can be terrible too i hear

Its easy nowadays with more and more of these number search apps that tell you what town/county the numbers in ive had a couple of guys track me down through my number if your numbers linked to Facebook it'll take you to the profile and boom pretty much can find out where they are in that town

I guess it should be less of a problem as few now bother with a house phone.

Best to not give our numbers out.

Stick with kik or similar. I hear there are alternatives

I always use kik until ive met the person a few times then ill give them my number its a scary world online so keeping yourself safe is key never give your address or number out until you feel absolutely comfortable with it there are some dangerous people out there and probably on here to stay safe

Yeah. Except i didn't give him his number.

Methim for a social as well, he seemed alright but had lied about his height and i'm not keen on meeting anyone who lies. Had to block him on here several times, he even made a fake profile so i'd chat to him. Blocked that too and stopped being so chatty and friendly to everyone in my inbox after that.

I guess Luckily it stayed in fabland. I've heard of others making up new profiles to continue to harass after being blocked. Not sure how effective the fab police are.

Not sure why people lie about their height or even age. They will immediately be found out. I'm sure some fem profiles mention fb's to put the nutters off
