I've been to both on ma bike, it depends on how long you are planning on going, and what sort of stuff you want to see.
Camping half way up a hill within 2 miles of the nearest pub was pretty "awesome", but then again there was 4 of us and a dog sharing a two man tent for the first night, but that's another story from 1984...... |

Best drive of my life was through an area of Mid/North Wales.. through some lakes on a Friday sunny spring morning.. In a Mercedes Sprinter Van.. part loaded, but securely. Ragged the fuck out of that thing and it loved every second as much as I did.
One of those few moments in your life where traffic plays ball for about three hours.
Driving bliss.
To be fair, I couldn't resist ragging my Aunties car around the Lake District. She asked me to slow down, but my nan smiled and said "He knows what he's doing".
Fond memories of both places. |

"North Wales is beautiful. Good choice. I'm currently in South Wales, but am considering a move up North at some point
Holly"
I’m lucky, 1/2 hr from wales and 1hr to lakes so pretty central to some great bike rides. |

North Wales. No contest. I’m biased, but it’s just ruggedly beautiful. The mountain bike routes around penmachno near betws-y-coed are my favourite. Also some great ones between betws and chapel curig.
