I seem to be unable to change the privacy settings for my photos, or to change my profile picture. I can only delete. In fact, I can’t see any of the controls, just the delete icon. That doesn’t seem to be normal. Help!

Following sequence should be ..

My Account.

Manage Photos.

You should now see your photos, above to Delete and at the side more options.

One thing to remember you’ll need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to save the changes..

Hope it helps

Have you tried the desktop version, to see if it's different, as well as using a different web browser?

Yes I had to use the desktop version which is a pain in my phone, but at least it works.

In the app, normally, next to each photos in my gallery, there’s a checkbox to make profile picture and three radio buttons to change between public, friends only and private: I can’t see these at the moment.

If you're not seeing the checkboxes in Portrait mode, have you tried rotating the phone to Landscape, to see if they appear? I seem to remember there was an issue recently with the send button in messages that only appeared when rotated.
