The second Close Protection Officer to leave a gun on plane. Sadly they have to get suspended; any officer who isn’t aware of where their firearm has failed in their basic duties. |

"Dominic Raabs bodyguard left his gun on a plane..
A trifle careless and he or she has been suspended...
Could of put him back on the beat..
Suspend him yes or no ?
No here."
So you have one job to basically escort someone under armed guard to your destination. Only you left your gun on the the plane and someone decides to attack, how do you fight back?
Throw your hand luggage at them?
I know it’s a worst case scenario, but how can you forget something like that? |

"Totally unforgivable and Camerons bodyguard did the same a few months back.
Cameron still has an armed bodyguard?
"
Yes. We see him with them when he goes shooting in our village |

I suppose all of the past PMs like Tony etc have them.
What about leaders of the opposition.. does Jeremy have one ? |

" Pretty unforgivable and needs removing from specialist duties.
I expect a rate of specialist armchair experts will have lots to contribute. Enjoy "

"How doyouleave your sidearm anywhere why when issued from armoury would it be out of its holster"
CP work doesn't utilise normal holsters. You tuck into your trousers. Droo trousers equals drop gun! |

"Perhaps he was hoping Raab would find it and accidentally discharge it whilst peering down the barrel to see what it was."
An amusing way to look at it.
Has to be a sackable error, though. Just because the weapon was handed in this time, doesn't mean it always will be.
Two things, though:
1. Dominic Raab is a boxer, apparently, why does he need an armed guard if he's handy in a fight?
2. What sort of a person would shoot someone to save Raab's bacon? |

A man leaves a gun on a plane, a little naughty, but these things happen, no harm, no foul. |

"1. Because boxing doesn’t save you from an determined armed attacker and
2. Someone who gets paid a good wedge to do so "
LOL Fair enough - but surely Raab and even an unarmed bodyguard would be ninja enough to cope? |

They don't just tuck them in their trousers. They use what is called an inside the waistband holster. It is however safer to remove the gun from this if you drop your trousers as it stops the gun swinging about and hitting things. However it is vital (and absolutely basic firearms safety) to know the location and condition of your gun at all times when carrying. Absolutely right that someone who left their gun unattended like that is suspended pending an enquiry. |

Is that your Armchair expert Opinion ?
Or do you have a Certificate in Armchair Expertise ? |
