In about a month's time, Londoners head to the polls to vote for the next Mayor of the city. Who are you choosing and why?

"Having seen how truly shit the choices are is it worth voting.

Because of where we live we don’t get a vote on who.

Last good Mayor was Livingston. May not have agreed with him. But a whole lot better than the two who gave followed.

That we have 20 candidates really says it all.

The reality is tho that only two candidates stand any hope.

Not a good choice.

Probably Bailey or Fox. Anybody but Sadiq.

I'll decide nearer the time.

Although I think we should scrap the Mayor of London altogether as it's an obscene waste of money and the only result of any policies introduced involve making ordinary Londoners poorer.

"Although I think we should scrap the Mayor of London altogether as it's an obscene waste of money and the only result of any policies introduced involve making ordinary Londoners poorer."

No we need the overall authority with some joined up thinking. Otherwise we end up with chaos.

Problem with Sadiq is he is not up to the job. And unfortunately I don’t think any of the others are either

But if Bailey did win then he might be able to get some extra money from Boris.

He has been saving up major problems instead of dealing with them.

Sadiq Khan has been a total nightmare. From increasing his press office spending by 26%, mismanagement and over spending of £10 billion on TFL and at least a 4 year delay on then opening of Crossrail.

I think Bailey is the only candidate with any hope of winning it other than Sadiq.

Fox would just be an iconoclast vote.

Do you Londoners vote for the best candidate for London alone, or do you have a mind on London's place in the UK?

Just curious.

Looks like people are just going to vote along party lines. Sadiq was on 47 and Bailey on 22. From latest opinion poll.

Personally, I vote for London alone but I'm always mindful of the fallout that could affect the rest of the UK. I'm not overly keen on the any of the candidates so will vote on what's best for the capital's stability.

The TFL spending hole isn’t all sadiqs fault... the get their revenue thru travel... if that is 75-80% down in the last year, and the government won’t help with the hole as they are for every other business, then something gives... also doesn’t help if the government won’t subsidise school aged children travel

All well and good but he was also playing to the audience by keeping fares low. When he should of been increasing them by inflation each year.

Kids also have two legs they could use instead of a few stops on the bus.We did and never did us any harm.

Also when I got sent to a school two bus journeys away my parents paid the bus fares. So why should the government susidise them.

Yes if they are further away than they can walk then yes pay their fares but otherwise no.

But his attempt to subsidise public transport via increase in congestion charge costs and operating hours is not a solution

Meant to only be short term whilst the pandemic is affecting revenues.

But as he has created the congestion problems along with TFLs idiotic decision making can honestly see it staying for the forseeable future.

Of course it will. Official policy has always been, when money runs short hammer the motorist.

Congestion Charge, ULEZ, increased parking charges for diesels etc etc

If they were concerned about congestion and pollution all diesel small vans and cars would be banned from the city.

Parking is set by the different councils. Now got £5 surcharge in some couincil areas for diesel cars.Plus the £8 an hour parking charge. It hurts to pay £30 for couple hours parking. Can remember when it was a pound an hour when it was only

Didnt Boris pledge to scrap the congestion charge during both of his mayoral election campaigns ?

Oopsy he didnt & then just expanded it to twice the size it was under Ken Livingstone .

Problem is what would you replace it with. If left to their own devices the local councils would be a mess on what is needed for London and just concentrate on themselves.

We need that body and someone in charge for the joined up thinking across London.

Most of the Peple in London who voted for him,

think he's been decent .

Better than Boris the Tory . , who cost Londoners £43 million on

An idea for a garden bridge , The Boris Bus which cost £350 k per bus

which cost tfl £100 million in unpaid fares

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mylondon.news/news/news-opinion/boris-johnsons-routemaster-london-bus-17025921.amp

Then bought an Ilegal water canon which ended up being sold for scrap at a loss of £300k .

Sadiq has been ok .

You forgot about the so called safer neighbourhood traffic schemes that he put in place that no one wanted or were consulted about that were deemed wrong and had to take out.Closing roads in London and bridges and then complaining about congestion that he created.

The exploding cost of city hall.

I could go on.

Mans a disaster. Was from day one.But if opinion polls are to be believed we will have him for 4 more years.

Would of hoped that before you close off roads and create the congestion that you are against you would actually consult the residents that you claim to represent and listen to their views and wishes.
