Also, while we're asking questions, now we've crashed the Rouble and doubled the wealth of Putin and his cronies (who have their wealth in €,$ and £ which are now all worth significantly more back home in Mother Russia), who is going to protest the deaths of innocent Russian civilians in a few months time when they begin to starve? Presumably its ok targeting Russian civilians or, at best, seeing them as simply collateral damage, in order to try and force regime change.
Why are we not reporting that Yemeni civilians are being killed American, Israeli and British ordnance fired from French jets all sold to countries like the UAE and Saudi?
Why do we not even get told there has been a war trading in Ethiopia for several years now?

In the Iraq war - the destabilisation of the entire area has led to many times that figure in the years since. Harder to show a direct causal link with the US/UK invasion though.

What is this nonsense?
Dozens of countries currently isolate Isreal entirely,Iran backs armed militias fighting against them every day.Who gives the Isrealis billions despite the Americans?,Uk companies only buy products they are selling mainly IT services you want us to stop?
The Palestinian cause has given cover for lot of anti-semites that is why,A lot of banners associated with political causes are banned including unionist banners(bet you like that though).
Saddam hussien murdered hundreds of thousands his security forces took children as hostages,Also there were local forces already fighting Saddam,Did you want them and their families killed?
Every war?,What about Chechnya,Georgia and Crimea?
We can criticise our country all we want without being an apologist for others crimes or ignoring that other countries have their own ambitions that may be imperialist in nature.

I agree historical facts and truths are very important, is it not said that the victors write the history books, then is it not the scholars who present the actual truth and facts.

Israel Palestine issue is not as straight forward as Russia-Ukraine issue. Russia is a sole aggressor against Ukrainian civilians whereas Ukrainians are just fighting the army to defend themselves. If Russia goes back, one can reasonably be sure that Ukraine won't go back and attack Russia.
In Israel Palestine case, both sides have been responsible for breaking peace agreements. If Israel does a ceasefire, can you be sure that they won't be attacked by anyone? The middle east problem is way more complex than Ukraine problem for anyone to take sides. It's pretty much like Kashmir issue. Both side's leaders can point fingers at each other while it's the civilians who suffer. |

You could argue that the USA, UK, France, China, Russia and Israel love them most, perhaps; but almost all governments do, really.

Been thinking in this and cannot help but see double standards around the desire to “do something” and “help refugees” that can really only be down to one thing...Ukrainians are white but Syrians, Afghanis, Somalis, Yemenis etc are all black and brown.
I notice there isn’t the usual cries of “first safe country” or “but most are economic migrants not refugees”. It’s all quiet on that front (much to Priti Patel’s surprise I think).
Anyone brave enough who usually says that sort of thing care to explain why this is different? |

Millions of people getting killed in a far away country is easy to ignore.
The threat of WW3 that could end the world makes people feel it affects them personally. They may not really care about Ukraine but they want to 'help' in some way to try to prevent things escalating to oblivion. |

I would say that is certainly true of some/many.
I think human beings are naturally tribalist and the Ukrainians are more “like us” and it is also closer to home (albeit as far away in Europe as it can be and only a few hundred miles closer than Syria).
I do wonder about those who were so anti Eastern Europeans being in the UK (taking our jobs) and what they are thinking now? |

Your right, it's terrible whether it's Ukraine, Palistine or anywhere else.
You need to ask, who benefits from these conflicts and the hypocrites who prop it up.
USA and Israel trying to hold Iran in check is the polar opposite to the Ukraine, therefore in steps the hypocrite, who defends double standards with wafflery and the age old weapon of accusing people of "what aboutery" used by many on here.
What aboutery is used thus;
You argue situation A is horrible, why is it OK though for situation B to go on and be ignored/supported ?
The hypocrite on here then accuses you of using "what aboutry"
