Why couldn't her kids attend the funeral how many did they have? The restrictions on numbers was down to the venue and the social distancing, churches were shut for a while but graveside services were going on which was easy to social distance. |

Its not defending them but i do like people to get their facts right when making statements otherwise others believe them and jump on the bandwagon.
There was no gov restrictions to stop her kids going to the funeral but you get these mp,s on the tv stating they were partying while people couldn't go to their parents funeral (which is blatantly untrue) but no one questions these statements and so people like the person whose post i was referring to believe it then they carry on the lie and others believe it.Some dont let the truth get in the way of a good old whinge. |

I agree they didn't HAVE to miss the funeral.
And so shouldn't be positioned this way if it is.
However, the tone being set by HMG was to avoid contact etc. There was governmental and therefore societal pressure to put ones needs to one side for the good of the country. Just look at the queen.
So I get if people feel they shouldn't based on all the press conferences etc.
So it's a spit in the eye that they were socialising while the pressers were going on.

Yes social distance measures were in place which people respected but family were not ordered to stay away thats all i was saying."
Funerals had max attendance numbers (30 as I recall BUT travelling restrictions were also in place).
You could NOT visit hospitals or care homes to comfort the dying, who died alone. |

Why the need to use whataboutism to justify what Johnson and staff at No10 did? If SKS broke the rules and gets a fine he has said he will resign. Let’s see what happens.
Regardless of what does happen though, IT DOES NOT MAKE IT OK FOR JOHNSON TO HAVE LIED TO PARLIAMENT REPEATEDLY.
And as Hovis said, dates and context matter.

Can I just mention that even if they could go to the funeral I’m sure that wasn’t on a wish list. On the more salient point the wife was told to go home and no visitors were allowed to sit at his bedside as he died and that included his wife and kids so to argue the point about the funeral rules is a bit pathetic.
Jumping at a mistaken post is not the same as what happened in Downing Street.
Boris write the rules , Boris broke the rules then Boris lied that he had broken the rules and lied that he knew anything.
As a country labour Tory or Monster Raving Loony Boris is not fit to be our PM and that’s the issue. If you accept a PM can lie and cheat then you are accepting that our democracy isn’t worth anything and it’s a free for all.
Vote Tory if you must I’m fine with that but get Boris out first . He debases the Tory party just as much as the country.

They clearly didn’t believe the stuff they were putting out that put the fear of God into people. The rules that we thought at the time were daft ( taping off park benches, washing hands while singing happy birthday twice) but we went along with for the common good.
They had no fear of picking up the deadly disease and taking it to their unsuspecting families who thought they were working long hours.
Shame on those at the top that allowed this to happen . |

That’s your view but I am bewildered. That just normalises lying and law breaking in the highest office in the land. How and why should the citizens of this country be required to act lawfully if the man at the top doesn’t?
It just shows how the slow and steady drip drip drip of questionable behaviour over time becomes acceptable. It is symptomatic of a continued fall in the standards of behaviour our law makes should be held to.

Only a relatively small minority who are Boris haters are concerned with what happened at Downing Street. It is a work place. It is not as if anyone external to the work place was asked . The attendance of Boris at most of the events was minimal. Most people recognise what a difficult job it was running the country during a time of a national crisis.
Maybe ask the relatives of the deceased . You would probably find that they simply accepted the rules and were extremely greatfull for all the government help during the crisis . The PPE crisis was addressed promptly, financial support was extensive and many people did very well during Covid as a result of furlough .
People who strive to help others in life judge people on their successes , not on an after works drink .. |

That’s a lovely little story but a waste of calories spent typing the words as they simply do not reflect how the “silent majority” are feeling. You love quoting polls, but only those in the Daily Heil, but all polls run in recent weeks show that the majority are not accepting of Johnson and gangs behaviour and believe he should resign.
I have read/seen plenty of quotes from angry people who could not spend time with dying relatives, parents, siblings, partners and children, who are disgusted by Johnson’s behaviour. Not seen one solitary quote in support apart from people who have not suffered in the same way.
And it seems a growing number of Conservative MPs feel the same way and have written requesting Johnson resigns. Are they “Boris haters” too? |

The restrictions on numbers was down to the venue and the social distancing, churches were shut for a while but graveside services were going on which was easy to social distance. "
It was an actual interview with a live person on radio 4. She sounded very reasonable and just like a normal human being rather than a political one so I suggest you listen to it rather than disrespecting her pain. |

The die hard tories don’t care, they will defend and defer to their leaders because they know their place. No the thread is about poor Beer Starmer. Did he lie about his booze up? Is he drinking too much?

But lying, repeatedly to Parliament, is an issue that should be resigned over. It raises doubt over integrity, honesty and morality. All things that are a minimum requirement that the electorate should expect of the highest office in the land.

Modus operandi with Johnson throughout his career. Always trying to postpone scrutiny or kick things into the long grass hoping bu the time it eventually comes around people have forgotten, grown tired of it, or are focused elsewhere.

What I don’t get is that Johnson is clearly not really a Tory. His ideology is completely fluid and opportunistic. His priority is only himself and he has repeated form of jumping on populist policy if it helps him get what he wants. For example, He was a remain supporter then switched as saw an opportunity!

Boris is as far from a green as humanly possible.
Just because he's not destroying the planet as fast as you want him to, doesn't put him anywhere near the greens.
His priorities are making the ultra rich and big corporations, richer, at the expense of British people. That's pretty much the political definition of very far to the right. |

Did he lie about Raynor ? Or was this an unnamed labour spokes person
How many people were there versus how many he said ? Remember the gotcha was a £200 curry bill which, if it included drinks, is tiny for the 30 ppl sometimes quoted.
Where was he and his team at 8:40?
Even if he was at his hotel, I'm sure that 30 ppl rocking up 20 mins before kitchens closed would be loved. Would they even be able to get past having a starter ?
The odd bit about all this is the gotchas seem more to favour SKS than go against him.

But on what planet is there equivalence with what happened at No10. Multiple parties over a prolonged period under a variety of lockdown rules. Context matters.
In some ways I hope he does resign and Labour pull in someone like Andy Burnham. Really go back to their roots. Say it as it is. Create a clear and distinct choice for normal people. Never know, it might even embolden real Tories to try and pull the Conservatives back towards the centre right ground and kick out the current crop of crooks!

We do know he lied about Angela Raynor being at his social, and the numbers there, and not being able to eat at his hotel.
Looking at his red face he either likes a drink or needs a new sunbed.
I don't think he should resign for a 50 FPN. No body should, it's not a criminal conviction.
But lying, repeatedly to Parliament, is an issue that should be resigned over. It raises doubt over integrity, honesty and morality. All things that are a minimum requirement that the electorate should expect of the highest office in the land.
We all deserve better, no matter what colour tie they wear.

- Taking control over the Electoral Commission
- The Police & Crime Bill (making protest virtually impossible and certainly impotent/useless)
- The Govt being able to overrule the Judiciary reducing scrutiny, reducing power of Judicial Review and ultimately independence of one of the three fundamental pillars of democracy
- Removal of fixed term parliaments
- Intention to pull out of the Human Rights Act (Dominic Raab)

Entry to Eton is competitive and thus only boys with high potential may be awarded a place. Aristocratic or privileged backgrounds are no longer necessary requirements for entry. An increasing number of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds are now able to apply and receive funding. |

Lol an inferiority complex me! So far from the the truth but the only way to really counter that would be to reveal more about myself than I want to on a swinger website. Suffice to say my earnings put me in the top 1% of the country and my qualifications are far in excess of BoJo.
More than familiar how private schools work thanks very much. The point being made was about privilege, and it is an inarguable fact that Eton, Harrow, Marlborough, Winchester etc etc instil a sense of entitlement that those predisposed to having a superiority complex will absorb and embrace. Some more than others as revealed by BoJo’s own headmaster.
My original point remains. Being made a Sir in return for your actions is not the same as being part of the privileged set. One tends to be earned, the other is by accident of birth. |

More than familiar how private schools work thanks very much. The point being made was about privilege, and it is an inarguable fact that Eton, Harrow, Marlborough, Winchester etc etc instil a sense of entitlement that those predisposed to having a superiority complex will absorb and embrace. Some more than others as revealed by BoJo’s own headmaster.
My original point remains. Being made a Sir in return for your actions is not the same as being part of the privileged set. One tends to be earned, the other is by accident of birth. "

The government quickly resolved the issue by catching up on delayed driver tests, modifying the test so that the reversing test could be independently tested and employers played their part by increasing drivers pay. Kier Starmers lack of understanding of the problem says it all . He would have made the working man worse off.."
Just for the record there are hundreds if not thousands of trucks still standing idle due to a lack of truck drivers . When a working truck reaches its sell by date they are using the idle trucks as new ( shorthairs of new are also an big issue due to pets supply) and the old spare is exported to the likes of Africa
The governments solution to freeing up capacity was to abandon testing caravan drivers . That should be fun then. Also outsourcing reversing which is approximately 5 mins of the hour long test . Yes that should do it! Ha ha

I don't want to defend the women. But I read that the judge said she hadnt made the acid threats.
What she did was horrible. I'm glad the whip has been removed. I'm glad noone from labour has been seen to defend her afaik. But of we are doing whataboury, it's only right we do it from a place of truth.

The judge said the court found Webbe had not "made a threat to throw acid over" Ms Merritt but that a string of silent phone calls and threats to reveal naked pictures of her had been "a course of conduct which amounted to harassment".
I know you are  ing. But the acid bit isn't true. The nudes, yes. There's plenty of ammo to hit her with. |
