Just a point since the desantis sending immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard was mentioned..

What he did was ask Texas to send him some so he then turned them around… so he never had any intention of giving this group sanctuary!

The group are claiming they were not told where they were going (other than Florida originally) and there were lied and misled

Also… these people were from Venezuela…. That makes a huge difference!!

For those who don’t know… people from Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela Are not treated as economic migrants (section 64) .. because those 3 are classed as socialist/communist dictatorships… they come under section 8 rules which states they are classed as automatic asylum seekers (for example Cubans who make it across the water don’t get sent back!)

Ron picked his stunt with the wrong group of people and may now be in huge trouble for it!

Basically super rich and super white Martha's Vineyard is happy to vote Democrat and virtue signal about how much they care, but they don't want poor brown people spoiling their view.

Aside from Barack Obama of course, who owns a holiday home there, and who they wouldn't mind being photographed with at a dinner party to show their friends and put on the office wall.

Actually no one is debating the people of Martha’s Vineyard treated them really well bearing in mind they had zero notice that Ron was sending them ( literally didn’t know until the plane landed! )

If the point you are making is that one state that has a republican as a governor, Charlie baker, treated them with compassion, and the other one treated them as pieces of meat for a state!! Then yey you!!!

Sending people across state lines on false pretences like De Santis did - seems a bit criminal to me.

Well done Martha's vineyard for responding at short notice to help people, though.

Helping people by sending them somewhere else. Heroic.

You know that the southern governors sent them up north while still having legal requirements to go to government appointments down south?

But yes, sure, this is all the fault of the people who scrambled to make the best out of a criminal stunt.

You do realise this has had the opposite effect that intended, don't you? That it has immediately backfired and made Mr "oh no I'm nothing like Trump" to look like a cruel exploiter of innocent people and Martha's Vineyard to look compassionate and generous? My gods, he's stupid.

He also looks like someone who spends his time thinking up stupid stunts instead of actually doing the work.

By the way did you hear how democrats have been helping Trump nominees succeed in the nominations?

Apparently they are much easier to beat.

I don’t think Ron realises Martha’s Vineyard is in Massachusetts, which for as democratic as it may align, actually has a republican governor!!!

The reason why you don’t hear much about him is that Charlie baker is a moderate which is about as opposite as Ron desantis and Greg Abbott

Charlie actually works with democrats to get stuff done in the state rather than grandstand

For example baker and former mayor of Boston Marty Walsh, who is now in the Biden administration as secretary of labour might not see eye to eye ideologically, bet managed to work civilly enough so that everyone wins!

Probably why the trump wing hates him…

Do you really think republicans are going to be swayed because some immigrants were dropped off in elitist territory? They are we cheering his decision.

Are they better off on the Cape or back in their own countries? Are the better off in overcrowded immigration facilities? Is it it ok for DHS to do it but state governors can't ? How about border patrol doing the same exact thing ? DHS proposed the same exact policies.

Thank you for showing you do not understand and are showing ignorance of the process.. and why the country or origin makes a difference…

If someone comes from one of those 3 countries, they are dealt with under section 8, which means that they make themselves known as coming from for example Cuba, they are then considered as claiming political asylum, are asked if they know anyone in the USA, if the answer is yes they are given an appointment with an immigration judge in that city and are allowed to go on their way!!!

These people Ron is playing political points scoring with came from Venezuela!!!

People sleeping on the streets in El Paso with children.

Governor's send people to other states so they can control the influx better.

Idiots lose their minds even though they are proclaimed sanctuaries. Funny how them sleeping on the streets is a much better option for some.

A sanctuary city under US law is one that won't comply with ICE.

DeSantis used millions of what appears to be federal money for his little stunt, in ways that weren't authorised.

There are criminal laws he might have broken (I was going to be specific but it's a fab forbidden word)

Might be relevant that the governor who moved the refugees off Martha's vineyard is a republican.

But. Facts, eh? Who needs them when you have a publicity stunt?

Right. And I've got a bridge to sell you. problematic how it's in the news. So your fine with people sleeping on the streets.. I am not.. a governor keeps it in the spotlight you scream foul. Political or not they are people. It's ok when feds do it a right wing governor does you all lose your minds.

Lol ok you did

When your replies bear any serious relation to what I've said, then I'll worry. I am spot on with local feelings your excuse is ? "

nothing you read and quote the same BS according to the " news".

The US congressional committee investigating last year's Capitol riot has issued a legal summons ordering former President Donald Trump to testify.

Also, I see Bannon got four months. Will Trump face any consequences?

I'm v simply asking your opinion based on the overwhelming evidence we have all seen. It speaks volumes tht you won't give it.

Here's what your stance is like...

Picture the scene. You're in London in the 1900s. You clearly see a man dart out and kill a lady of the night. Grinning, he carves her up. Blood splashes all over you as he sings: I'm Jack the Ripper, I am. Then he runs off into the night.

When the coppers turn up, they ask if the dastardly Ripper killed her. And you answer: dunno. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

You reckon he's guilty or innocent? Given, you know, the overwhelming evivence we've seen so far that shows he's guilty as hell. Yet he might have a ace up his sleeve. Have to wait and see.

Hmmm maybe he has proof the guy inciting the loonies wasn't him. He could possibly prove it was Hillary Clinton in a fat suit, wearing a Trump mask. + possibly he may also prove he only lied about the election being stoooolen because aliens from Nagroth 9 were controlling his brain via secret satellites. Maybe bigfoot too .

There ya go. Embrace the madness.

Hmm that could be Trump's next slogan if he runs: embrace the madness. yup you have.

Just taking the piss.

If you still haven't made up your mind on Trump, what would it take? Trump singing about how much he loves overthrowing democracy live on Xfactor? He is supeoned guess you will have to wait and see

It was a question to you. What will it take for you to make up your mind on Trump?

How about footage of him making up some hang Mike Pence signs while giggling & wanking his little cock with a pair of tweezers? is it a supeona to testify ? That's how our courts work not public opinion.

I'm asking your opinion. What will it take for you to make up your mind on Trump? So far, we've seen him whip up his morons to storm the Capitol. We've seen him lie over and over again about the election being stooolen too. That obviously doesn't do it for you. So what will it take?

How about this? A confession written by Trump, in gold sharpie of course, where he admits he did it all and he'll do it again if some1 will give him $50 and some sexy snaps of Ivanka. and I am telling you that everyone deserves thier day in court. Seems like you love mob justice .

Again the evidence presented by the defense. There has been other cases on here you all screamed guilty. Yet the defendant was innocent. What is different here ?"

So you'd reckon the Ripper was innocent if you clearly witnessed the above?

Oh they should announce. Then they can lie all Trump's legal woes are politically motivated. As opposed to, you know, holding a guy to account for trying to overthrow democracy in his country.

political optics . Midterms coming up. My county is a battleground if Trump announces he is a candidate it might save him and boost the republican base here for midterms. Guess we have to see in the coming weeks.

Because you mentioned it as a distraction away from Trump. But there are certainly comparisons to be made between the two men.

Oooh… so much in here in a few hours, can I come in and say a few things…

A) jan 6th committee… it’s 7 democrats and 2 republicans

B) only reason why the number is lobsided is that in the original negotiations about the committee there was negotiation on how it would be handled and the democrats gave the republicans every single demand they wanted… equal representation no current members both sides would have veto over subpoena power and access to potential witnesses ect.

C) the senate agreed to the plan, it went to the house and the day before the vote everything was agreed until Trump released a statement saying he was against it.. that is when house republicans changed their mind and pulled out!

Okay… will Trump comply with the subpoena… I bet in public he will say he will do it as long as it’s on live television…. In private he will get his lawyers to run out the clock!!!

For those who say Trump should announce now… he won’t for the fact the midterms then become about him… and he is not seen as a positive!!

He will run because I think he thinks it will keep himself out of jail, and he can claim political martyrdom!

I am best guessing he is charged in Georgia with trying to tamper in a federal election, and that the DOJ charges him with obstruction over the classified files, because they can’t be seen to say a president is above the law especially when it looks like he was holding files for leverage!

All his legal team needs to do is last until January. Then the House republicans breaks up the committee.

Is that a good thing? Earlier on you were championing him having a fair hearing in the courts.

It's a strategy when the ones on the committee are being unbiased.

"All his legal team needs to do is last until January. Then the House republicans breaks up the committee.

Is that a good thing? Earlier on you were championing him having a fair hearing in the courts."

They actually have the option of transferring it to the senate if needed but I think The report will be done by December……

The question is do the house republicans want to do their own version of the report, bearing in mind that all the major witnesses have actually all been republicans

That would be political suicide on his part.

Fair enough.

I'm interested in your opinion. Should Trump be found guilty and charged, and even locked up. How will his supporters react? Will they accept it, or think it was a stitch up?

7-2 in political optics it does look like a stitch up in the committees current state. Looks like a witch hunt when one side is stacked. Kinda like SCOTUS.

Is it the committee that would preside over the legal hearings?

Sorry, I don't know how the courts work there.

It’s a mistake that didn’t need to happen for the house republicans when the democrats agreed to every single demand republicans made to them.. and just because Trump said no, they said no!

SCOTUS is a different animal since senate republicans held up the Obama nominee for 15 months, but managed to rush trumps 3rd nominee in 45 days and basically went against everything they said 4 years before…

No… the house committee basically deals with anything legislatively that can do so it never happens and what if any rules need to be closed or tightened so it never happens again

The DOJ deals with criminality that came about as part of January 6th, the before, during and after

So if he's found guilty and charged. It won't be anything political, just legal?

The house committee don’t do the charging.. they can make recommendations if they feel it is egregious…

The DOJ are the people who do the criminal charging…..

Think of 2 different paths side by side.. they also swap information if needed

I see some constitutional hurdles.

As matter relates to the time when Trump was President, as I read the constitution, a President has immunity except from impeachment.

However, Trump has already been impeached in relation to this matter and acquitted. So any attempt to do over would fall foul of double jeopardy.

I suspect an attempt by the DoJ to bring any charges relating to Trump's time in office would be ultra vires.

The best the committee can do is make the process the punishment.

Yes and no….

Its is federal charges, It’s a general convention that you don’t prosecute a sitting president… so you would wait till after if he isn’t charged before (they will absolutely in this case make a decision before)

If it’s a state case those rules don’t apply…

So where a sitting president can be pardoned in a federal case, he can’t in a state case!

The Georgia case of the potential election tampering is a state case!
