"Remember this crap told at Brexit? Controlling borders and immigrant numbers found to be higher than reported. Another Brexit bonus. What a laugh.
Control of nothing. Brexit = a mess"
Do you know if numbers would have been higher or lower if we had not left the EU? |

We know that as members of the EU we had the right to return people. Now, we don’t. |

"We know that as members of the EU we had the right to return people. Now, we don’t."
"Then why didn't we?"
We did.
Under the Dublin agreement we had the right to return an illegal immigrant if they had previously applied in another EU country. That only worked if we could prove someone's identity, and the other EU country hadn't 'forgotten' to add them to the list. |

Well yes, but the number of returnees was insignificant. As you allude, our esteemed EU neighbours failed to co-operate above a minimum level. So others saying Brexit is a factor is a bit disingenuous. |

All the noise from Farage at the beaches shouting stop the boats. Rishi committing billions to stop them.
Turns out the boats are 3% of the net migration so in effect will be 1.5-2% of total immigration.
What a load of distractive bullshit.
98% of immigration is via the airports.
It’s time we had an open grown up view of who we want to be here whether it’s labourers or scientists etc and stopped the rampant nonsense spouted from all sides.
We benefit from immigrants if they contribute so set up a system that reflects that benefit. Process those who want to work and get them working.
Provide safe controlled routes for the boats but also address the uncontrolled numbers coming through the airports.
Stop immigration being divisive and make it a tool for the country’s good. |

We've definitely left the EU. Brexit has been implemented.
Just turns out all the stuff they promised, was actually a huge pack of lies. If only this has been pointed out before. Oh well. |

I am amazed how many people do not know the fact you have stated, it scares me in fact that so many blindly follow what they know is crap I refer to MSM, and they must know it is crap scary.
Immigration is permission to make money, give a multi million pound contract, increase the amount of money given to said contractors, skim the interest off the topped share it with their mates.
Do not believe me check out an old company on wikipedia called A4E. |

These are the facts
Overwhelming majority Indian, Nigerian or Chinese

• Nigeria: Around 141,000 individuals.
• China: About 90,000 individuals.
• Pakistan: Roughly 83,000 individuals.
• Zimbabwe: Approximately 36,000 individuals.

Reasons for Immigration:

This is fact and on Gov.com
I do not know about others but the info is there to see and we still get complete rubbish regarding immigration which causes untold trouble, and thoughts which are insane.
It shows a lack of education if one cannot look for themselves. |

The problem for several sectors of the economy is that in it's current 'oven ready' format it's detrimental so it needs sorting out ..

If they are coming through the airports then everyone doing so must have valid visas so to reduce net migration then SKS needs to get a grip on visa regulations or get more UK nationals to emigrate .. |

the fact is that the country brexited from europe 4 years ago and at that point it was the at it's apogee. from then on we are in an ever closer trajectory to union with europe, culminating in a referendum in aproximately 2036 when that 'once in a generation' soundbite has been exceeded .... the outcome of that is anybody's guess, but gen Z and gen Alpha will have the majority say in it. |

So make a choice then
Accept immigration
Or
Face reduced services because immigrants are blocked from filling a labour shortage and colleges (and by extension the Treasury) loosing millions because foreign students are disqualified
Simple really

It's not me that has to make a choice . I am just pointing out the rather obvious point that if net migration is perceived as being to high then entry requirements need to be a higher hurdle. |

No I don't think that at all, I've never said anything even close during the many passionate debates on here before and after the referendum..
people who are racists voted on both sides, farage and co deliberately used imagery very close funny enough to what Goebbels did as part of their campaign based purely upon fear of the immigrant..
It's a tired old trope that for some might have swayed their vote ..

Because literally that was and still is the attitude of some who proposed and orchestrated the leaves campaign..
The language used and by some on here then and now might not use that term to the letter but the emphasis is solely that..
A more pragmatic person would have not allowed the cull of decent Tory MPs and Ministers in the run up to the 2019 'get Brexit done' general election but that's what happened and they and everyone else paying for it have paid a price which might have been lessened by having adults at the helm..

Noir only was the amount returned small but in the final years of the scheme more were sent to the UK from EU countries than the UK sent back. As others say it was a 2 way street |

Perhaps the costs involved in housing, feeding and giving medical care to those that cross in small boats though the terrible deaths that happen are another big reason. |

The Tories had an open border policy.
Torsten Bell summed it up
"It's clear the level of migration of recent years was simply far too high, given what we know about our capacity to build housing and wider infrastructure. Conservatives long ago decided their job was to stoke populism with their rhetoric, rather than bother governing" |

Good quote.
I’m dubious as to whether Starmer can address this in a practical way rather than shouting rhetoric but I sincerely hope he can.
The Tory party could no longer blame the EU for the state of the country so immigration was the next option rather than their incompetence.
We must stop the nonsense popularism on all sides otherwise we will be flowing the US where consistent lies get more credit and support than a painful truth, |

Well yes. They over egged it and people defected to the ultra-Tories in the last election. Which cost them dearly. |

They constantly told people they were going to solve the issue and constantly failed which in my opinion done them a lot of harm regarding votes. Labour have come in also claiming that they can solve the issue. If they don't make at least a substantial improvement then they too will find it negatively affects them come voting time |
