It’s always been a grand chessboard as per Brzezinski‘s book.
Just remember any notions of the US being a standard bearer for ‘freedom & democracy’ are somewhat tenuous as they are very selective about the standards they apply to any given situation. They will back dictators if they align with their interests, their history shows this.
As for Ukraine, the territory Putin holds also has both rare earths & minerals & he has his land bridge to Crimea. Certainly not all bad for him if the war ended along current lines. |
