"Perhaps he has PTSD, well behaved kids and a £300k house, per the reports about the last chap. "
We'll have to wait and see, won't we? Shouldn't more than a couple of hours until all the relevant information has been released |

"There's an update on the Leicester Mercury site, does sound more like a tear up at a party then someone decided to up the ante in using a car..
"
It sounded like a very bad end to an angry situation from the initial reports. I just don’t get what ethnicity is mentioned in some reports and not others. It doesn’t matter, or at least it shouldn’t |

There will have been dozens of knife attacks across the country in the last 24 hours, used to see so many orange incident boards for gun and knife crimes on the way into South London we used to have a light hearted count up..
Most of them unless they were fatal or involved someone like police or a member of the public only justified a few short lines in the Advertiser/ South London press..
That was 12 years ago and family still in the area say it's no different..
Not all crimes are of the significance that the incident in Liverpool or sadly Southport and Nottingham are..
Just another row at a party and someone taken it up a few notches.. |

I think some slack should be cut, the media are complicit in setting the tone. |

On that I don’t disagree with you
The most nasty combination on media and social media.. light the blue touch paper, but then can’t run away from it quickly enough if goes pear shaped.

@Fabio: you are 100% correct. There are some people on here who are hell-bent on finding problematic people of a certain ethnicity and taking every opportunity to stoke the fires against that ethnicity, be that at individuals or countries as a whole. |

Why do you think it was necessary for police to release the ethnicity of the Liverpool car attacker almost immediately, yet for the police to withhold it in this very similar case only a week later ? |

So you think Merseyside Police's decision to quickly publish the ethnicity of the man arrested in Liverpool is stroking the fire against that ethnicity? |

Nope.
You are always looking for a way to goad Indians, point out any perceived shortcomings and laugh at them. |

Because the media does this….
“A man has been stabbed in London it what appears to be an argument that got out of hand” = white victim, black suspect
“A man has been stabbed in London in what seems to be a gang related incident”
= both black
“A black male has been stabbed in London by a white youth in what appears to be a racially motivated attack”
The only difference is the colour of their skin
It’s not about the people involved or their race, their religion or the colour of their skin. It’s about the media reporting incidents differently because of those things. That’s what winds people up. Skin colour, race and religion should never be mentioned, someone get stabbed and someone did it. End of!

Really. That’s not true. Why you say that
Different threads, different context.
Let’s look at my post again. “Indian origin Gurwinder Singh, 31 of Gwendolen Road in Leicester, had been charged with four counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent ”
Why is it so upsetting for you? Is it not allowed to mention certain ethnicity but others? |

When the Liverpool incident happened, before the identity was known, social media was full of the usual comments like ‘religion of peace’. Without a shred of evidence. I suspect that’s why the identity was quickly revealed.
I think the reporting should be consistent no matter what. Ideally with no mention of colour, sex, or anything else. |

To me that just sounds like reporting the facts which I don't see as a problem. Why it took longer to come up with the facts for one incident over the other, I don't know. As far as I know though neither is classed as a terrorist incident |
