is anyone else listening to the sentencing.two things that gets me why not murder and why shouldn't they be named colour age sex shouldn't come into it feral is feral.his poor family listening to what happened racially abused hit with a slider what the hell are we bringing up. |

Kids are in charge too many excuses for people's lack of respect and ability to parent, everyone always seems to blame someone or something else very few seem to be willing to take responsibility.

Actually it can very easily be both. Wrapped up in cotton wool with regard to not teaching them that actions have consequences, that there’s more to life then their own feelings, while allowing them to go into the big wide world and do whatever they want |

The idea of holding parents accountable for their children’s actions is worth serious thought for our legal system, especially in extreme cases like this. I have read about this very thing in parts of the US where parents can be taken to court and sentenced if it’s shown they failed to take reasonable steps to control or intervene in their child’s behaviour.
The question is where does parental responsibility begin and more importantly end? Like many other issues we are facing today in this country, acceptable behaviour and boundaries now need to be written down precisely and with no loopholes, in absence of many a persons moral compass. |

definitely I've seen those parents in America been sentenced to a very long time I think it was to do with allowing access to there guns. |

Even considering the age of the perpetrators, the sentences seem incredibly lenient for the taking of a life. What message does it send out? Why is this guy's life worth less than Jamie Bulger whose killers are still inside, no? |

The sentencing focus seemed to be all on the criminals welfare, particularly the girl although she clearly played a major part in encouraging the violence. |

Staff pandering to their every need and apart from being able to leave pretty much do what they want including kicking off and wrecking the place, assaulting staff.....

They'll be out within 18months free to carry on, and at great expense to the tax payer given new identies, rehoused and benefits because of their traumatic experience.

But I'm sure she's very sorry and all the caseworker visit's and therapy will help her with her "traumatic experience"
This sentence needs reviewing and the judge needs sacking,I'd imagine it wasn't a judge but a panel of social workers all keen to keep child services well funded by keeping her in the community and needing support.

Honestly it's fucking disgusting and feel so sorry for the family it's sickening.
I grew up in a pretty violent part of London and subject to quiet a few assault's, much racial tension at the time early 80's.
But this is another level of entitlement and violence.

Taking a life = 7 years, out in 3 tops
Aiding and Abetting taking a life = let’s keep an eye on her once a month for a few years, see how she turns out.

Yeah we all know the answer and you can guarantee Lucy won’t have been behaving according to the parole board, so needs to complete her sentence in full. Maybe add a few extra years here and there for whatever we can pin on her while she’s inside.
Whoever has passed this judgment needs a mental competency test

The US case you are talking about is the case of the Oxford, Michigan high school shooting where a 15 year old kid killed 4 of his other students, he got charged as an adult,
his parents were eventually charged with involuntary manslaughter for failing to make sure the gun was locked up in a secure place |

There are other cases that don't include weapon supervision, which focus on the parent / parents not taking preventative measures and will face criminal convictions in the US for negligence.
After I wrote the post you are referring to, I looked into UK law and there are laws that exist already.
Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003. Specifically, "Parenting Orders" which courts can impose on parents whose children engage in criminal conduct or anti-social behaviour.
The difference between the US and UK is being held to account either by civil or criminal law.
The UK relies on civil court orders and interventions, which is drawn out and lacking the directness of serious implication that a criminal charge would have.

I think one of Jamie Bulger's killers has been out for quite a while, the other has proved himself to be a total nutter and they are keeping him in until he is safe to walk the streets again.

To soft in this country. If you kill someone you should get life no parole a full life sentence in a sell with a Bible maybe few books.no tv no games consoles.
