UK hands over £70m to one of the world's richest countries

David Lammy has announced another giveaway
This one is £70 million being given to Singapore towards clean energy projects in Asia.
A few weeks ago Lammy gave £94.5 million to the new Isis Syrian government, on top of the £50 million last year.
The black hole seems imaginary.
This is expensive soft power when Reeves will be delivering a hard up sob story in the autumn in a scrabble to get more money from taxpayers. |

GDP per capita estimate for 2025:
UK $55,000
Singapore $88,000
In Purchasing Power Parity terms:
UK $63,000
Singapore $130,000
Aside from Labour just wanting to borrow money and give it away to foreigners, because that’s what Labour does (the Tories aren’t much better) it’s interesting to try and understand what is actually driving these epic levels of delusion.
Does the UK government think it’s the 19th century where the UK is still the dominant superpower and all the black and yellow people are reliant on our largesse to achieve anything? Is there some residual underlying racism still? Is it white saviour syndrome?
These other countries must think the UK is bonkers when it turns up waving the overdraft chequebook around. |

You guys will just swallow everything the Daily Express and GB News feed you.
It's a $5 billion initiative on green energy investment. Singapore are putting in $500 million, we are putting in about $94 million. As far as I can tell it's a complex venture capital deal involving fintech, AI and all sorts of things and could end up making the UK money in the long-term. |
