People will always try and find a way to get an extra day off work. Always have, always will, they couldn’t care less about the lionesses or any other such achievements just an excuse to try and get a day off work! |

"Sure take Tuesday as well, cost to the economy of one bank holdiay is estimated at £2.4 billion. That'll really mess with the lady Chancellor's budget"
So how payes for it, but I think lots will be off with hangovers. Why have a final of any game on a Sunday poor planing |

"Some of us only get paid for the days we actually work- we've got enough bank holidays already without another one just cos someone managed to kick a football into a net."
Except from the penalty spot. |

"If people want more bank holidays they just need to go and get a job in the public sector.
Four day working week and four days “working from home”.
"
I would expect nothing other than this from buck!!
A) nothing wrong with working from home
B) that 4 day working week is actually “5 days over4” so 4 really long days |

That depends on the context. It works better for some jobs, sub-optimally for other jobs, and not at all for yet others.

That also depends on the context. Some roles work better like this, but some suffer major bottlenecks when this isn't coordinated properly. Which is often a nightmare.
WFH is great when applied properly, cut a disaster when not. More often than not, most managers make a real hash of WFH, trying to please everyone (or noone) and causing chaos. It gets really messy where some roles in one project/department are suited to WFH and others aren't. The "can'ts" get really cheesed off by the "cans", even where it's obvious why. You see mutinies, grudges, all sorts of nonsense. Had to let someone go about a year ago because of exactly this. There's only so much you can stretch WFH in some roles before it becomes a non-productive day.
For jobs that support it, 2-3 days WFH is usually optimal. This allows work-life balance with reduced commute, stress and increased happiness levels. It also balances in-person collaboration and communication, which is almost always essential within a department. Coordinating this is a huge challenge. Adding in 4-day weeks compounds this challenge (despite them being a good idea IFF task management is right).

Public sector workers: “we work soooo hard you wouldn’t believe”.
Reality: Public sector productivity down 7% since 2020. |

The idea of pure 9-5 with a daily commute is pretty stupid for many jobs nowadays. |
