So, the Reform UK leader has been accused of falsifying his election expenses during his successful bid to become an MP last year.
Can’t say that I’m surprised about this.
If there is any justice in this world he will be charged and end up in court only to be found guilty where he will be barred from public office after spending several years in prison….. It’s good to dream…. 😀
I wonder if I can defer my up coming jury service so I can be a juror at his trial? If that happens.
I’ve always seen him as a political fraud who is only interested in siding with the rich and powerful. |

I'll be greatly surprised if this turns out to be true.
Not because I don't think that Farage is likely to fiddle his expenses, but because he knew he would come under heavy scrutiny and he'd be foolish to do anything that wasn't exactly within the letter of the law. |

Then one hopes you'd be impartial to the evidence presented at the trial, and vote not guilty if the evidence couldn't support the accusations. Somehow, I doubt you would.

Don’t like the guy… full stop, but would be totally impartial and judge purely on the evidence.
I would just like to watch him court where he has no control of the narrative and he would be exposed to full legal scrutiny…. |

Be mindful of confirmation bias. Typically there should be more evidence before mainstream media start framing things in a certain light . Sadly our media has shown itself for the dystopian propaganda that it is. |

It’s not like Farage has “previous” for fiddling political expenses now….. oh
He fiddled expenses whilst working in the European Parliament … |

As I say, I'm not at all surprised that he has previous. I just don't think he would have done it on this occasion, what with so many people out to crucify him for the slightest infraction. Even his accuser says that Farage is "blissfully unaware" of decisions made by his campaign team. |

So we are working on the theory of “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me “ now…….
And we still don’t know about the house “bought” in the constituency and the tax avoidance |

He is very happy to crow about others and their tax avoidance but when he is under the spotlight he is a lot less transparent about his full financial situation…
I think that I can smell hypocrisy… |

I'm not sure how that phrase applies to this situation, but...
What I'm saying is that Farage might be greedy, manipulative, and unprincipled, but he's not stupid. It would be stupid to fiddle your campaign expenses when they get made public and you have so many opponents out to discredit you. Especially when it involves such small amounts of money. |

"Reform is leading the polls
In other news tax dodger Rayner is reportedly coming back to cabinet "
While in other , other news farage while still leading the party in front in the polls and very likely to be the next pm still lives in the house he bought which he didn't buy because someone else bought it even though he said he bought it ,, ( very lucky for him that someone else bought it ,,and she had the money ,,because if he had bought it like he said he bought it , it would have involved him paying tax ) ,, bearing in mind he was at the time being questioned about his connection to Clacton those claiming he wouldn't do anything dodgy because he knew he would be under scrutiny might have thought he may not have mislead his public about his house purchase , what with him being under scrutiny and all that |

Framed another way. Unelected EU beaurocrats didn't like how he spent money so they docked his pay. All because his politics doesn't align with theirs.

Is it possible he was not expecting such a rapid rise pre election and therefore did not think such things would come under such scrutiny. I know reform were already rising before the election but it seems ever since the election, this has accelerated and just maybe it has surprised him. On the polls, I have just seen the ipsos poll for November, the greens are only 1 point behind the conservatives who in turn are only 2 points behind labour |

That is indeed possible.
But again, the man that presented the evidence to the police said that Farage didn't know about the overspend. |

Understood. I guess it may come down to who should have known about a possible overspend and who is ultimately responsible. I suspect this is not the first time and overspend has occurred if you include all parties over the years, so maybe there is a go to punishment the police can enforce, assuming they prove guilt |

"Just seen an update on the BBC about this allegation. Seems the police will not be investigating after all as more than a year has passed since the alleged overspend "
Hard to believe another accusation against Farage has come to nowt. Hopefully the claim that he nicked someone's Maltesers when he was 12 results in criminal charges. |

Erm… having the statute of limitations run out isn’t necessarily the same thing as being found innocent
You can hang onto that if it makes you feel better

The Electoral Commission said: “We have responded to Anna Turley MP’s correspondence, which raised questions about Reform UK’s spending at the 2024 general election. After carefully considering the information presented in the letter, we did not identify any expenditure relating to Mr Farage’s election campaign in Clacton that should have been declared in Reform UK’s national expenditure.” |

The whole "Get Farage" campaign seems more like Wile E Coyote and The Roadrunner every day.

Police have said it's outside prosecution window and electoral commission have said no wrongdoing. If he had done something wrong he could have used the Rayner/Reeves line of 'it was an honest mistake' and gotten away with it. Grubby politicians from Labour, Tories and Lib Dems finger pointing at Reform while they're even worse is beyond a joke. The whole of Westminster is crooked. |

Hi. I wonder how many politicians went to prison because they falsified election expenses.
I suppose his supporters would go to great lengths to make sure that he's never barred from public office. |

I'm sure someone who keeps up with politics could start a thread of these MP's from all the parties charged, under investigation or accused of fraud/corruption, racism etc etc,
Like Sohail Asghar a former Green Party councillor (effectively suspending his party affiliation in council proceedings) but remains on the council as an independent councillor, On November 6, 2025 arrested on suspicion of modern sl*very offences,
I'm sure the thread would have a part 2 part 3 and more

Hi. It seems they realise how valuable she is to them.
There is even talk of her replacing Starmer. |

Over 200 Labour councillors have either resigned, had the whip withdrawn or switched party since the last council elections. But barely a whisper in the media.
If just one Reform councillor does the same it's hold the front page. |
