Banned Ad

A tfl ad aimed at highlighting male predatory behaviour on public transport in London has been banned, because the bad guy was played by a black actor and the victim by a white girl.

The watchdog said it couldn’t be allowed because it portrayed the bad guy as being black and the victim white.

TfL said they have shot different scenarios with the different ethnic people in all roles annd planned to rotate the ads. Only this version was banned it seems.

So, bad people can only be played by white actors?

They really have no idea. The only white child marriages are the kids trafficked to Pakistan from our big cities

How did the institutions in this country end up being filled with such lunatics?

It's a very good and important question.

"How did the institutions in this country end up being filled with such lunatics?"

It is due to the insidious infiltration of the system by people who have an agenda.

It has been happening for decades, with the education sector being a prime target for these people.

Sensible narrative and debate then gets silenced by labels such as “racist”, madness such as “positive discrimination” becomes normalised, and fear of offending others drives policies which are detrimental to society such as not collecting all data on offenders - until recently the ethnicity and heritage of criminals was not routinely recorded.

All driven through under the banner of equality, but in reality, making a much more unequal society which discriminates against the people who don’t fit into the boxes currently in favour.

The ASA are beyond daft. They banned a cartoon advert for the Toyota GT86 a few years back because it might encourage sporty driving. I complained about them banning the advert and got an absolute essay of a response written by some absolute Neville no fun. I think they probably ban any advert they receive a complaint about.

Simple solution is to base characters or stereotypes on actual statistics (if the data is available)

The funny part is that they have ended up being racist against both black and white people. They have basically banned black actors from playing some roles in the ads. Isn't that illegal according to the equality act? Or does "equality" act also only applies in one direction?

I guess the actors still got the job and got paid.

Racism against blacks seems to be being replaced by racism against whites under the banner of the fear of being called racist.

When I was at school the said the most common word used in the English language was “the”. I think now that’s changed and the most common word now is “racist”.

There is an Army ad with a black guy being sexually harassed by a white female soldier. I'm sure the many female recruits who have been harassed and worse got a big laugh from that.🙄

I think it’s a shame that a serious issue like sexual harassment on public transport, can’t be highlighted in the media because it’s deemed racist.

We are never going to get away from actual real-world racism, when just about everything is deemed racist when it’s so obviously nothing of the sort.

Denzil Washington stated that the only way to tackle racism was to stop talking about it. Stop talking about skin colour. I think he could be right.

I mean this will set a precedent for ads in the future. Black actors will be banned from being cast on certain roles. Something something horseshoe theory

Think you will find it was Morgan Freeman. Denzil was talking about black fathers in the home.

Absolutely crazy. It's these sort of actions that create division and put a spotlight on a person's colour instead of their actions. How can it be ok for the attacker to be white and the victim black. They surely have to ban the whole thing or not at all. They have gone down the ' it's ok to be racist against non blacks' route. Such a serious topic as well

Never, but if I did, and was the only complainant, then I'd expect my complaint to be politely rejected.

Could we not employ an actor to play a white police officer murdering a white woman actor

Much more believable isn't it ?

They could just run a few ads with different configurations then it’s equal and equal promotion time

"They could just run a few ads with different configurations then it’s equal and equal promotion time"

That was the plan. But 1 of the configurations got banned, the one where the bad guy was black and the female victim was white. It seems all other permutations were fine.

Nothing wrong wish a white man hassling a black female so it’s not an interracial thing. You’re just not allowed to have a black male hassling a white female in the media.

Notice TV adverts have these multi coloured, multi everything families.

That's fine, but now a family going to Centre Parks have to have a black guy married to a white girl with differing coloured kids.

At least make this funny.

A black guy with ginger hair speaking with a clipped accent, his wife as a fair skinned lady with Chinese accent.

Kids will be Chinese and Ugandan in colour with blonde and ginger hair with Scottish and Welsh accents both Dad and Mum are gay but only on Tuesdays and Bank Holidays.

All must suffer from some form of ailment.

Happy families, God love 'em.

Around 5% of the population are black but 50% of actors in ads are black.

Yet some ethnic minority groups have next to no representation in ads.

And it’s nearly always a black man with a white woman, seldom the other way around. I often think to myself, if this is representative of society, what’s so wrong with black women that black men don’t want to date them?

The best one I saw at Xmas time I think, there was an Indian man with a white woman and the grandma was black and the kid was Chinese.

If the product is only for mixed race couples then it’s clearly of no use to me so I don’t buy it

If all the actors in adverts men and women wore full burkhas then there wouldn't be a problem. Might be a bit extreme but it might stop the sensitive being offended.
