No more tariffs?

No more tariffs? Trump losses in Supreme court 6-3. I wonder if he'll be saying prices will be reduced by 100, 500, 5000%

Will price stickness stop retailers reducing prices, after all, they have seen Americans are willing to pay higher prices.

Haha 🤣

It's a blow to Trump's ego but maybe he will benefit in the long run as they seem like a very blunt instrument. Sometimes he needs saving from himself.🤷

Well it seems he is exploring other was of imposing tariffs so I don't think this is over. Also agree a lot of prices will stick although there will be pressure on some products to reduce a bit. The stock markets also seem to have reacted generally positively.

Shame we in this part of the UK have to pay EU tariffs on goods coming into Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK.

I'm sure Trumps State of the Union speech next Tuesday will see him congratulating the judges sat only feet in front of him, on how they have helped him see the errors of his ways. On the other hand a betting man might say that he will call 6 of them traitorous cunts!

"Shame we in this part of the UK have to pay EU tariffs on goods coming into Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK."

You shouldn't be paying any EU tariffs on goods entering NI from GB. The only time that would realistically happen is if the goods declared were considered a risk of onward movement into the EU (south).

That really shouldn't be happening as it makes goods over priced in the North and it wouldn't make sense to sell the items in the North. Beef is always up there on the high tariff banding, is beef in your local supermarket 40% more expensive than a supermarket in England as an example?

I'm not saying you haven't come across a product that had a tariff applied to it, I would be interested to know what it was.

Both times Trump has been elected there's been no end of people proclaiming him a fascist who would dismantle democracy and the rule of law, which once again looks rather hysterical and silly.

The US retains very robust divisions of power which are superior in most respects to European rule by beauracracy.

The Senate and Congress majorities are thin and you are starting to see a few Republican members of both houses who have decided to retire so they are increasingly becoming immune from Trumps threats. He will start to lose his power and that is what will actually cause the rest to grow a backbone when they realise that they no longer have to stomach things they don’t really want to vote for.

"Hasn't stopped him putting tariffs up again today, actually of defiance or just a big " FUCK OFF" to the system? "

Sort of….. bit of both

Trump is so stubborn and never wrong to the point he doesn’t see the off ramp SCOTUS gave him inadvertently to then put back on tariffs

He could have taken the L …. Said he tried , admitted he overreacted, blame SCOTUS and move on

But by putting back on tariffs under section 120 it creates another problem… because 120 only allows the tariffs to stay 150 days before they have to get congress approved, they are supposed to go on from Tuesday, 150 days puts you on July 29th

8 weeks out from the midterms…….

Imagine being a republican … up for election in either the house ( which will be all of them) or the senate (which will be 1/3 of them) voting to continue the tariffs which is making people’s cost of living much worse

Every democrats attack ads writes itself.. it will be brought up in every single local or statewide debate

Again trump opened his mouth at the wrong time…..

He tweeted out that any country that wants to play games will be met with larger tariffs….. on the day the EU parliament was due to ratify the EU-US provisional trade agreement!

This vote was delayed from the last time when it was due to take place but Trump opened his mouth threatening to take over Greenland

The EU again decided to delay the vote…..
