Hamit Coskun has won his case in the High Court

The Crown Prosecution Service relentlessly pursued Hamit Coskun for burning a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish Consulate in London but they have failed.

Since Keir Starmer became Prime Minister, three men have been prosecuted for burning copies of the Quran.

In Hamit’s case, the High Court was clear: public order laws cannot be twisted to reintroduce blasphemy by the back door.

Yet the CPS appears determined to press ahead. In Hamit’s case, it instructed one of the most expensive KCs in the country and secured a conviction but this has now been overturned in the High Court.

You opened the debate up by discussing the bad things (agreed) in the Quran..

My reply is pretty simple to understand and absolutely how threads and topics develop..

Because you only want to concentrate on pointing the finger at that religion isn't a surprise at all but others are quite free to do so..

Of course you might be so religious that your conscience prevents you being critical of one particular deity but to not accept all of them have obscene parts is odd..

Maybe people should just have some respect for others instead of resorting to childish, stupid stunts such as burning books (remind you of some dickhead with a silly moustache in 1930s Europe anyone?)

Anyway, maybe the Turkish Consulate should have provided their response by burning a St George's cross or Union Jack instead?

So, that's you admitting that you haven't read the Quran, RIGHT?

You realise that Judaism, Christianity and Muslim are all branches of the same semitic tree, RIGHT?

They are theological cousins, or a trilogy. Some people prefer the original, others prefer the sequels.

Most people don't care either way because it's all fiction but people have the right to believe or not believe anything they want.

Tolerance is a good thing, you ought to try it sometime!

Its not the burning of a quaran that is illegal, its the public burning of it. That said, the way the whole thing has been handled is ridiculous. The CPS at this point should just back off and move on.

The man who confronted him with aa knife for burning a quran should have been jailed, no ifs, no buts. But he wasn't because the judge felt there were enough mitigating factors to avoid an immediate custodial sentence,

Lunatic with knife not charged. Knife crime is not a crime if the police decide it’s not. And public order is whatever the police say it is.

I didn't know we are supposed to keep score? My bad

But my point was that those who quite easily take to the streets if the other side do anything wrong just seemed to be absent when innocent Iranians where been murdered in the streets for trying to protest their government

Everyone should have spoke out about that.

I'm not siding with American here, I think America needs to realise Team America was a comedy and not the goal to play world police.

I think we should focus on getting rid of all the sky daddies and that might solve more problems and we can move forward with humanity
