I'm going to have to agree with Tony, slim to none. Any wars will be by proxy as it always has.

Besides the fact we are dealing with nuclear powers, right now Russia and the US have more goals uniting, then dividing them !

Besides... in spite of all the posturing , they might act stupid sometimes... but they are not mad !...thank god !

President Trump tweeted that Pyongyang is “looking for trouble” and that he would “solve the problem” with or without North Korea’s neighbor and patron China.

North Korea has an active nuclear weapons program and is rapidly developing the capability to deliver these weapons to the United States mainland.I think thats enough for Trump .Hopefully china will force little kim to give up his nuclear weapons. It seems unlikely though.

North Korea's dictators are Marxist communists' who opposes capitalism and democracy, they want Korea to be a one country, one leader state, that's obvious, why is anyone surprised at their stance, they will see it out,in my opinion to their fall.

China aren't going to stand by and let a guy with a silly haircut develop a nuclear weapons programme.

They've already had a trade bust up over coal. I sense trouble brewing there, and the Chinese Premier was in the USA recently. It must have been discussed.

China has no fear of trade deals being unattainable with the U.S.A. To think that is absurd

"I really can't see how North Korea think they can gain anything ?"

Really? You can't see? Imagine you are N Korea, look at what happens to non-nuclear states like Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Panama, Grenada, Ukraine, Georgia, Cyprus etc. They get invaded, they get pushed around, the UN might condemn actions against them, it might not.

Having nuclear weapons means that people don't fuck with you. North Korea doesn't want to be fucked with. For the most part, they just want to be left alone, they don't really want to bother anyone else, and they don't want to be bothered.

No Bob ! you are over simplifying it !

Legally speaking if North Korea starts something , its merely breaking the cease fire ! The Korean war not resolved , so it would be a violation of the armistice , and they would be at war with the UN not the US by its self !

You also seem to be forgetting the parties with a bigger stake in the region !

South Korea and Japan !

These two countries rely on US help , and want them there !

If war breaks out these countries have most to loose in terms a land war S. Korea, and retaliation, Japan !

In any case This time I doubt China would help like they did before !

In fact I think that this is China´s chance to show they are the "Power" they want to be in the region.

I mean how can they have the ambition to be a superpower , if they cant even control a little rat like N. Korea?

Actually I suspect that was part of the message Trump gave to the Chinese in Florida !

I was referring to North Korea!

China has stopped coal imports from North Korea, which must hurt the NK economy.

China aren't going to let the North Koreans go much further.

N Korea is not really Marxist, it is Maoist or more properly Kimist.

The answer is yes, its highly likely that soon Russia and the USA will be at war.

If you look on a map after ww2 the old Soviet union was much bigger, Moscow had 1000s of miles between it and any branch of the USA.

When NATO was formed the nearest country was Italy!. The Soviet union had easy access to the Mediterranean? through many of the old eastern block countrys.

Slowly they lost East Germany, then the iron curtain fell and they lost the eastern block countrys, then they lost actual parts of the Soviet union like Latvia and Estonia, Lithuania..

But it was ok, Russia reached an agreement with NATO that NATO wouldnt expand into this newly released countrys, by the time you get to the late 90s NATO had expanded right through the old eastern block and right into the old Soviet union country's of Latvia and Estonia.

Then the USA dropped out of the anti ballistic missile treaty.. And they installed them in Romania, that new NATO country, they said it was for controlling Irans nuclear capabilities of course! But look on that map Romania is nearer to Moscow than Iran and the us has just done a deal with Iran on nuclear constraints!.

But those anti ballistic missiles get nearer to Moscow all the time.. Hence the final battle for control of the Ukraine, if Russia lose that, Vlad knows there done for and the USA will move right in the front door!.

Its a high stakes game of chicken that Russia cannot and will not lose. End of story

Sorry but wrong!

N. Korea wants S.Korea. . . It's building its nuclear capabilities to threaten the south with. . . The US are committed to supporting the south and the north are seeing/testing Just how far they can force the issue short of war. . . It's intimidation on a grand scale.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if US makes a prementive strike on the N Korean weapons development programme. . . . China would be up in arms but I doubt they would want to risk severe escalation.

not so sure about that one. . . He could get Assads head on a plate too but that would be the shit hitting the fan. . .a step too far unless N Korea make the first move.

I can't see Putin letting a vassal declare war on him. The tax returns and piss videos will come out then and wiki leaks will have plenty of new releases they suddenly found.
