Do a bit more research mate hes put a spin on it.It doesnt change the person who is getting the pension it just brings their partner in line with others of their age.Fair in my eyes why should someone get more benifits just because their partner is older than someone elses partner.

So you are saying that the government haven't slipped in a change to pensions?....because I've just seen the evidence of changes for around 300,000 current pensioners.

A change to the current financial position of some 300,000 pensioners....so JC was entirely correct.

And I'm saying that I expect no empathy from you or any of your like.... detrimental changes that will affect both present and future pensioners will only ever be excused by those who look down on others.

Fabio explained it better than mi am afraid OP... you have misinterpreted what is going to happen....

its revolves around pensioners and Pension Credit..... its a bit of a quirk that if effect is being rectified...

its because the minimum guarentee for a pensioner and the minimum guarentee for a work aged person are set at different levels.....

at the moment the award is based on the age of the Elder person

if you have a couple where one is receiving the state pension, and one is of working age, and they need help... at the moment they get a joint pension credit award, regardless of how old the person of working age is.... (so you could get someone who is 30/40/50 getting something that was designed for someone over 60)

what is going to now going to happen is they will get in effect get individual awards to reflect the different ages....

if both people are entitled to pension credit, whether of state pension or working age.... they will still get the full pension credit benefit...

hope that clears things up a bit....e so copy and pasted it.

Yes, I read that.

300,000 people on low incomes will be on even lower incomes in the future.

They must be feeling pretty crap about that.

Meanwhile, over in Brexit fantasy land billions are being poured down the drain.

The other big issue emerging is the failure of Government policy on replacing nuclear power plant.

Toshiba and now Hitachi have pulled out. Between them, that is 15 per cent if planned future capacity gone.

The existing stations are limping along with sticking plasters.

The Government, for ideological reasons, wants private sector to build new ones.

The private sector says the risks are too great, so they are walking away.

The only realistic alternative now is vendors in China and Russia, both state-owned.

Another shambles at the door of the Conservative Party and its ideological intransigence.

Can't agree enough on this. Power stations are falling to bits.

Should someone get more state benefit just because they are married to a pensioner ?

I shall rephrase.

Should a 45yo get more from the state this year than their twin just because they have married a pensioner ?

You obviously have not grasped this, yes and they will get it when they are of pension age.Why should someone for example 30 y/o married to a pensioner get pensioners benifits?

Has it occurred to you that a compassionate government, rather than making a poor person even poorer to even things out, might have lifted the rest up to even things out?

Obviously yous two haven't bothered to read the details.

The older partner cant get their pension till the younger reaches it.

One 45yo. twin reaching 67 for example gets their pension, while other one gets shafted, even though paying in, until that twin's spouse is old enough.. Jeez!

I think this only works if you pay the equivalent of the pension credit to all couples. Which increases the cost and reduces the incentive to look for work.

Tbh, I can’t see why there isn’t a half way credit. But this story is more than the headline.

have I misunderstood?

I though a couple, one aged 45 the other 70, gets more than a couple both aged 45 as the former gets pension credit? And the first couple gets the same as a couple both aged 70.

Yep, the one thing my privileged education taught me was you remove inequality by improving and raising standards. Not by reducing and lowering standards. It is how the human race has advanced. Seems the English public school system has been teaching the opposite for quite a while now.

And look where it has got us.
