The far right activist Tommy Robinson is visiting Preston Lancashire on May 20th.

Police state" Mr Robinson is allowed to exercise his right to campaign and speak and no disruption will be allowed".

In March 2003 anti war campaigners coaches were prevented from joining a rally against the Iraq War the police not even letting the coaches use the service stations etc and were turned round and escorted back using a heavy police force. Protesters won a legal case a judge ruled the police violated their rights to freedom of expression.. the police have since apologized. Conclusion:

The police must be sympathetic to racist far right- wing parties. Freedom of speech is allowed in Britain only when it suits the police

Hi. I think you might be incorrect in your conclusions . The police took no action agsinst a significant number of climate change protesters at the recent demonstrations in London.

Everyone is allowed to exercise their right of free speech .

It was the climate protestors breaking of law by blocking the highways that the police failed miserably at tackling.

.

You state this was in 2003, maybe the policy’s changed somewhat in the last 16 years since that judge ruled it was illegal back then, most of the police involved in that decision will have retired by now and been replaced by a new generation.

Has there been any further incidents of this since then?

Most of the police are just acting on what the government advises within law.

To make a sweeping statement that police are sympathetic to far right makes it sound like you are blinkered in your own train of thought.

They are probably just allowing freedom of speech until it crosses a boundary, or becomes a public safety concern (as with some of the mass rallies you see in the capital, no matter what the cause)

I’m NOT defending Robinson here, just the police who are doing there jobs with less resource, more pressure and on the whole, just trying to do a good job.

You say that the police force are sympathetic to right wing parties but I bet many right wing supporters think that the police are sympathetic to left wing parties to!

I guess that's just opinions for you and why politics is so divisive at the moment.

Many people were inconvenienced by the climate change protesters and they ( the protesters) showed no consideration for other people. The police allowed a bridge to remain blocked for a week. In other counties brute force would have been used to clear the bridge .

Those arrested have only themselves to blame and should be ashamed of themselves for wasting police resource

The police have a duty to facilitate lawful protest.

So just as a candidate has a right to canvas, so too do opponents have a right to oppose.

The role of the police is to facilitate both in a way that maintains public order.

back in the 1970s a real old Yorkshire grumpy stick in the mud old-fashioned style farmer I recall mentioning to him of the then news about people climbing trees protesting about climate change and he said "well someone needs to do something hippies or not or they'll be no planet left", he really surprised me with that response..Shame about Michael Jackson's personal life as the "Earth Song" would have been a fantastic climate change anthem.

The protesters should of been water cannoned off the bridge with Boris's water blasters, then cuffed, charged, fined & imprisoned

Den of Iniquity

38 Police Officers arrived at Tommy's latest tour in Carlisle , when asked why , they simply said there " might be trouble " . There was no trouble . They stopped him setting up his equipment . No matter who it is, anyone lobbying and campaigning for an MEP role should be given the same rights as any other candidate .

Police Scotland asked a nearby branch of McDonalds to take milkshakes off their menu when Robinson was speaking outside. That seems very even-handed to me.

They also allow left wing parties the right to speak as this is a free country. My guess is you do not want a free country you want to select who can speak.

You do not have to listen to these people, why are you obsessed so much do you fancy him lol?
