When Boris appoints his cabinet today, one of two things will happen:

1. The Left will decide cabinet not diverse enough, lose their shit

2. Boris appoints suitably diverse cabinet, Left explain why it’s the wrong type of diversity & why those MPs are traitors to their race, gender or both.

Those of us who lean to the left will lose our shit over the poor quality of the people appointed to his Cabinet. Their colour or religion won't come into it.

Appointing someone as clearly unfit for government office as Priti Patel has proven herself to be is just wrong.

What a random topic to bring up. As a confirmed lefty the issue of the diversity of the new cabinet hadn't occurred to me at all until now. I've been more thinking about what a mess Boris is going to cause.

It often seems like the people most obsessed with lefty ideas of diversity aren't actually lefties at all.

neither...

what will happen is that boris may appoint a lot of further right wing people in positions that should worry you....

for example, if Priti Patel does get the home secretary job, that should scare the bejesus out of you....

the interesting positions is who ends up at home sec, at DWP, at health and at chancellor

foreign sec isn't really an issue because that is more of a diplomats job (which is why johnson was useless there) the only thing that would worry me would be if someone like rabb ended up there..

defence sec... doesn't really matter again who ends up there...

Labour will call out the lack of experience and that Boris is cutting off his nose by only appointing leavers. They will also say half the population don't have a voice... More if Boris ignores leavers who won't back no deal.

And will somehow say a GE needs to be called because of this.

Sure, the diversity will send out a message. But that will be not nearly as important as how far to the right the political leanings of any new Cabinet take the governance of the UK.

I saw this morning an MP chum of Johnson saying he will side with Trump and withdraw UK from the Iran agreement, for example.

Or to be realistic loyal public servants backing a true winner and delivering the result of the referendum. We are honoured to have Boris as pm . He did a great job as Mayor of London , no doubt he will repeat his success again .

What matters is who the members of the Conservative party elected, not what people post on here.

He was the choice of 160, 000 members. A few posters making derogatory comments about him after the event will not make any difference .

However, more worryingly, the "person appointed" recently wrote a report / essay / thesis in which he made it clear that in his opinion, that a child’s genetics are more important than the teaching they receive.

The Eu, I am sure, are worried. They stand to lose a large chunk of themselves. However, it's not a massive chunk, it's not a chunk large enough to secure the demise of the EU.

And why would anyone want to see the demise of the EU? A group of nations which for many hundreds of years have been at war with each other, but have recently come together to secure peace and prosperity within themselves. Along with toleration and a "must stand on your own feet" attitude to comers in?

"Why is diversity even an issue surely it’s the right people for the job

Because diversity is found in genetics and creating the right people for the job is something which can be more easily acheived through genetics than education. According to the philosophy of Dominic Cummings.

Boris is the best choice if you want to leave its just an added bonus that he pisses off labour.

THE STICKS

"When Boris appoints his cabinet today, one of two things will happen:

1. The Left will decide cabinet not diverse enough, lose their shit

2. Boris appoints suitably diverse cabinet, Left explain why it’s the wrong type of diversity & why those MPs are traitors to their race, gender or both. "

"Why is diversity even an issue surely it’s the right people for the job

Then discuss on that and that alone "

okay then... if we go with theory of "right person for right job" i wouldn't be picking a foreign sec who doesn't know the importance of the dover calais crossing.....

mind you i wouldn't have had a foreign sec who was probably the least diplomatic person and basically cause more issues than he solved.....nazanin for example...

"It often feels like people on the right want to base their choices on "what will piss off the left" rather than who the best person for the role is. Isn't that a bit sad when you think about it?Boris is the best choice if you want to leave its just an added bonus that he pisses off labour. "

Just ask a few Tories what they think of Boris - in fact as his “friends”, none of them think he has any integrity or ability to hold office - it’s not just Labour

"Why is diversity even an issue surely it’s the right people for the job

Then discuss on that and that alone

Because diversity is found in genetics and creating the right people for the job is something which can be more easily acheived through genetics than education. According to the philosophy of Dominic Cummings."

Eugenics never went away.

It's been largely underground since WWII

It's resurfacing with the rise of populists and the far right.

That doesn't make it better though, does it.

If businesses are concerned about Brexit, telling them to fuck off isn't a reasonable response.

But Boris does have this record of dismissing legitimate issues. Remember when he said investigating child abuse was 'spaffing money up a wall'?

I think it's difficult to assertain his meaning here. For someone who is meant to be articulate he's left ambiguity.

Fuck business is not as clear as

Fuck those businesses.

Fuck their concerns.

Etc.

You're reading it as the last version. I'm less convinced what he meant at the time.

Even if he meant the latter the implication is he doesn't care about them... And business make up our economy.

It was an odd response.

"It often feels like people on the right want to base their choices on "what will piss off the left" rather than who the best person for the role is. Isn't that a bit sad when you think about it?Boris is the best choice if you want to leave its just an added bonus that he pisses off labour.

Just ask a few Tories what they think of Boris - in fact as his “friends”, none of them think he has any integrity or ability to hold office - it’s not just Labour

Awesome what friends of boris did you ask ?

Pretty common knowledge if you care to read any papers or interviews recently

O sorry I thought you were asking people to ask a few tories, so assumed you had ?

Is that not correct ??

No, I make it a point to try not to have any contact with Tories - disgusting creatures with no moral compass

O right well can we just take your word for it instead of asking friends of Boris as you seem to have all the info ?

‘sigh’ ... (patiently) read ... newspapers ... - assuming you can read ??

O insults, nice well played ,, love not hate please

So, you can read, but just being deliberately obtuse x classy x

I simply commented on the bit where you recommend that we speak to friends of boris that were tories ,, you did say that didn’t you ?

No need for insults, love not hate please x

I can’t send any love I’m afraid but you do have my sympathy.

Thank you and god loves you x

“God” is a human invention - that’s why there are so many and none offering any solutions to mankind. Again, if you believe in “God”, or are deluded enough to think that you can infer what a God should do, or think, or send “love” on its behalf, you have my sympathy. I clearly gave you too much credit for being obtuse.

Wow a lot of hate just then, grab someone close and give them a hug

Love wins, hate divides. Hope your day gets better

West London

This is from the Daily Mash and definitely true and in no way satirical.

Slightly more fact heavy than the Mail and Telegraph though

"the dailymash

A ‘Who the f*ck are these mad b*stards?’ guide to Johnson’s new cabinet

25th July 2019

BORIS Johnson has replaced the entire cabinet with fanatical Brexiters who have sworn a blood oath of loyalty to him. What the f*ck and who the f*ck?

Sajid Javid, chancellor

The rest of the cabinet have a trick they play on Javid, where they point at a random person and say ‘He supports Islamic terrorism’ and watch Javid wrestle him to the ground. Then they laugh and tell him it was a joke. But he always does it again the next time.

Priti Patel, home secretary

One of many cabinet members already blooded with her first sacking scandal, Patel enjoys no-deal Brexits, stealing pets, setting fire to barns and hatred. Believes that any sort of problem is your own fault and you deserve it.

Dominic Raab, foreign secretary

A Brexiter so fervently patriotic he is practically American, Raab despises foreigners and can barely be restrained from headbutting them. The current thinking is that this is exactly what the position needs.

Michael Gove, chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster

Strange in every way and possibly not human, but will go on telly when Boris can’t be arsed, which will be often.

Stephen Barclay, Brexit secretary

In charge of sorting out Britain’s no-deal exit, which by definition requires him to say and do nothing in order to succeed effortlessly. Even so, he will probably manage to f*ck it up.

Liz Truss, international trade secretary

A Boris Johnson backer for years, all Truss has got out of it is this bullsh*t non-job. An object lesson in what you get for backing Boris Johnson.

Andrea Leadsom, business secretary

Leadsom plans to tell all businesses that their first duty is to support the Conservative Party’s ideological goals, give the party all their money and crush the party’s enemies. When told that’s technically communism, she will smile vacantly, as if her brain has been removed.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, leader of the Commons

You know when a second-year law student decides they’ll get themselves off their drink-driving charge by referencing the Carters & Drovers Act of 1641, and instead gets three months in prison? That’s what will happen here."

yes and no.... the arguement is going to be "if the policies are the policies... then does it really matter if the person doing the kicking looks like you... or doesn't look like you!"

for example... boris wants to bring back more "stop and search".... it doesn't make stop and search more palatable because its going to be enacted by a british asian lady....

I think you missed the intent.

Priti Patel is the Asian lady enacting the policy on predominantly other ethnic minority groups.

To some people this look "better" than a white man standing that it is done. The outcome is the same.

If you look at colonial history a lot of policy was carried out by "native" troops. That does not make something like the Amritsar massacre any more acceptable though.

I was reading an article in the Huff Post yesterday where prominent black people were saying that the Asian politicians don't stand for them, and basically the B in BAME was and is silent.

Maybe we need to encourage more black people to be more prominent in politics. Some are coming through but are nowhere near being "the best person for the job"

Well Boris certainly went with number 2, and the left have certainly done exactly as you predicted they would.

Actually it's a poster for integration.

You have people of all ethnic backgrounds presenting the same views that are either wonderful or horrible.

BAME politicians no more represent the views of all of their demographic than white ones do.
