Huge part of my life since the age of 12, still collect vinyl and under normal circumstances I'm out somewhere every weekend at an event, preferably an all nighter or weekender

Love kings hall stoke, Blackpool tower ball room, Whitby, st Ives

Dam I'm missing them and having to make do with the virtual events

The great thing is nobody cares as they're all into their own dancing and in a happy place

As long as you don't knock everyone over or take drinks onto the dance floor(a big no no) you'll be fine (I promise)

"Looking for tips, what are the best / easiest songs to learn to dance to."

The thing with northern soul is people don't really bother about how a newbie is dancing as they're lost in their own little world.

The only real don't do is take a drink onto the dance floor, knock into people and lots of talc as a combination of that and spilled drink make glue and ruin it !

I can send you suggestions but the best thing is to find a compilation on YouTube and listen to the songs, you're waiting to hear the ones that make you want to dance, don't try to dance if you don't feel anything.

There's no one size fits all, I regularly sit out songs that are to slow and there's a few newer type Latino sounding records that aren't for me and aren't northern soul but others love them.

A lot of people started with youth club northern soul like dobie Gray out on the floor but you won't hear these at the big venues

Shout if you've any questions

KTF

If you try find some of the northern soul Facebook pages you might find some dance classes once they are allowed again. I think there were some in paisley and motherwell
