Socials during Covid

Has anyone organised group socials since we've come out of lockdown? How have you found it?

I'm toying with the idea of organising a social for 12 in an outdoor bar area. Probably limiting numbers to 3 couples, 3 males and 3 females.

To limit the risk of no-show's I thought of a small charging for a space, with the cost refundable on the day against drinks.

What's people opinions on organising socials during Covid? Any ideas or suggestions?

Go for it think it’s a great idea and lots of people in the past have taken deposits to cover no shows and goes towards drink or food but generally if you book for 10 6show up even with deposits etc sometimes better to oversubscribe

Yeah I would say go for it to.

Let the venue know and put the onus on them to cancel your reservation if restrictions don’t allow it.

Good luck

Oh and a returnable deposit for guests who turn up is always a good idea. Although it doesn’t stop timewasters I think it certainly cuts them down.

I think you should go ahead and arrange it. People need to socialise. Most folk have had their vaccinations.

And England are dropping the mask wearing in two weeks. Life needs to go on!

If your up for it it's pretty much a certainty there will be folk of the same mindset. If not you ain't lost nothing what I would say is setup what you want not what others advise would be best

I’d say go for it too. Though the last line on your profile might put some people off signing up.

Oh yeah for sure, not taking responsibility for meets being canceled last minute but taking deposits wouldnt be for us in this context

That's a fair point! Shall it go ahead it would be edited. In the past I've always organised along side another Fab friend just in case of such circumstances and I should have said if I went ahead it would be my intention this time too.

I'm not new to organising local socials, but I'm rusty and haven't done so during pandemic times.
