central scotland

Ovens are sometimes just a 3 pin plug but the hob has to be wired to the mains and something tells me although it is a routine job that it should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

I am sure you can get someone to do it for a lot less.

Depending on what you had before, it is a pretty straight forward job.

We replaced ours last year and Jim done it himself. He is a competent DIY'r though.

The fee quoted seems excessive for what is a 10 min job. Sounds like company call out charge

Just read it again.

I am referring to wiring it in etc.

If it is fitting in to the kitchen units etc. then a bit more work may be involved.

if there was a hob fitted previously it would be even easier (and cheaper)

if not, around £40-£50 including materials

if it requires wiring directly into the mains then you must get a qualified spark to do it otherwise you will be invalidating your product guarantee and more importantly, your house insurance should your house go on fire

I agree.

It is more a handyman job putting in the tails than having the installation modified, but does need a competant person to do the job.
