Getting one word answers..... .

Right folks, I get that it's down to the guys (mostly) to send the first message and hope for a reply, that's a given with the ratio on here, what I don't get is why, sometimes, when we do get a reply, it's one word answers with no questions or interest shown in return?? It's all just 'yes' or 'not much'...etc. Am I the only guy that finds this quite nippy? I understand some people have loads to get through but c'mon, we've made an effort, surely it should be reciprocated? |

When you're trying to respond to several messages it's not possible to give lengthy answers.
Guys then send a second message if you don't respond fast enough to the first message which then increases the number of nessages you're trying to respond to! |

why perhaps they have zero intrest in you. If you feel they aint behaving az you would like pass them by

Its a reply though, maybe not what is expected or desired, but still.
Maybe they're just busy and give a quick reply to show they've actually seen the message. Or maybe they're just not interested.
Either way you should just state your interest and then leave it up to them to reply. Don't stress out about it.

I can be guilty of it sometimes, usually cause I've received a message of absolutely no effort, that consist of about 3 words....
Ok, "hi, howz u?" Isn't rude, but its not exactly high effort, if you reply along the lines of "not bad".... thats an opening for them to follow up with a message that'll actually instigate a conversation....
If someone messages me then its up to them to get a convo flowing, if i message someone i make an effort to do this. Too many people send a one line message and expect you to reply in depth... |

There are some people who have a desire to make the effort, and there are others who don't.
This is prevalent in all aspects of life.
I'm learning to not worry about it, as I'm absolutely certain the people that don't make the effort don't give it a second thought. |

I hate writing screeds of stuff and in addition don't like long messages from anyone so not a problem for me. As long as the message is polite that's all I am concerned about. |

Fair enough, but if you try to engage in conversation, or say something complimentary, and get a monosyllabic reply, it is a little disheartening, especially since there is a thread about "cock or conversation", and most of the respondents claim to favour conversation. I've attempted communication with some of those people in the past, and had messages deleted without reply.

I just find sometimes there is only a one word answer, if you want to start a conversation ask an open question.
I used to take time to reply to everyone but, having had some vile abuse for daring to say no I don't always now.
Also if all the message states is "Hi" I usually don't reply either, harsh maybe but just the way it is |
