My gf and I did it in the lead hill. The museum has a wee practice but you use a pan. My aim to find enough gold to make an engagement ring n wedding ring. Tyndrum is supposed to be good too and up the northeast coast.

I heard Tyndrum years ago. Always took it more as a tourist trap as in Inverness monster than there was really gold in them there hills.

Been to Goldfields in Ghana when hubby was working out there.

Totally different to panning for gold but I did get a tour of the plant where they still have several people sifting for gold after the majority of the rocks and dirt have went through.

I gather that even experienced folk get 1 - 2 grams for a hard days work standing bollox deep in gold water. Thirty quid a day - I will pass.

I'm panning for gold every time I'm on here. Have met some people who are solid gold, and also been presented with comedy gold.

Have panned for Gold in Leadhills but also panned for gold in California a tad warmer than Leadhills

I did it as a kid on holiday in the states. Shook that wee pan for all I was worth and made a big gold medallion with Mickey Mouse on it! Obviously I now have this insured for muchos deniro now

Don't bother is my advice.

Maybe as a one-off activity then it is ok, but you won't get rich, in fact, finding any gold at all is an achievement.
