So I found an old forgotten pension I had and thought I'd call them up to get a value thinking I might get a couple of ££ to reinvest in my works pension. However I got a massive surprise and was advised it was a 5 figure sum pre tax. So now I am thinking I should update my car and go the dream holiday and still invest the rest.

What would you do if you got an unexpected windfall?

I’d blow half of it living the high life in Vegas for two weeks and squander the rest.

Get my gardens all done up so I don’t need to cut the grass all summer!!

So extend driveway so two cars can fit in side by side and extend the decking in the back garden and have a summer house with hot tub

Hire a marquee and invite all your Fab friends to a wee freebie social. I will even accompany you across the border for the booze run. 50p for a bottle of beer.

As George Best said;

Spend a load on women and drink then fritter the rest away.

Hmm, if your profile age is correct then I'd be careful - you can't generally take money out of any pension until the age of 55. You could face a tax bill of over 50% if you do.

I’d invest it in my pension and see if I could retire early. Get financial advice before making any decisions.

I tend to use any windfalls to take kids on holiday and put money into savings accounts I have for when the kids are older, Tbh for me life is about experiences more than possessions so I’m not a saver, life too short

I don’t think I’ll live long enough to benefit from my pensions lol I personally plan cashing them in as soon as I can
