That was my question. It seems it won't come into force for a few days, so people can still go up until then, if they want to.

Well my question to all you fabbers is if you go will you get back? Flight times and days being reduced etc or cancelled all together considering France and Germany have locked down.

Also if you are travelling to go from say a tier 3 zone to tier 1 zone before what they predict will be tier 4 has not come into force, will people get turned away at the airport. I hope so as it's totally irresponsible in my view!

You may want to reconsider, our 'r rate' is now worst in the country, it was the lowest two weeks ago!

The only hospital we have is already on black alert, 15 ambulances queued outside A&E, didn't even know we had that many in Cornwall!

Interestingly it was the lowest before the half term weeks. Went to the local beach Thursday and visitors had no idea about social distancing and have upset many by saying they have come here to get away from covid. I'm afraid it's not clever enough to stop at the border.

You are safer staying at home.

Bromsgrove / Gran Canaria

The Government of the Canary Islands has approved a decree-law stating that tourists must provide a negative Covid-19 test to stay at accommodation on the archipelago.

Either PCR or antigen tests will be allowed as proof visitors are Covid-free, as long as they comeback negative and are taken within 72 hours of arrival, states the decree – which comes into force on November 10.

If you follow the current guidelines the chance of catching COVID is minimal. You increase the risk massively by travelling abroad or within the UK. Is two weeks in the sun really worth it? Holidays will be possible if people are sensible.

The government in the canaries will provide accommodation, food and necessary medical care if you were to get sick.

It's a moot point as you're not allowed to go during lockdown.

What is massively? Can you quantity that?

For instance 44 people have been proven to have been infected through air travel and that was maily before masks. You have a 1 in 27 million chance of contracting it in this way. Gran Canaria is one of the few places green on the European traffic light system.

Now let's compare that with the state of affairs in the UK, where wearing a mask is a personal choice...

So yes I really challenge that statement.

Agreed, we have travelled to Greece twice and GC since March and felt very safe at the airports & during the flights, equally so when we have arrived at our destinations.

Of course, it’s personal choice whether you choose to travel or not but scaremongering doesn’t help anyone make an informed decision. x

If you follow the current guidelines the chance of catching COVID is minimal. You increase the risk massively by travelling abroad or within the UK. Is two weeks in the sun really worth it? Holidays will be possible if people are sensible.

Wearing a mask isn't a personal choice, it's mandatory unless you have medical needs. My comment was that if you follow guidelines the chances of catching COVID are minimal, if you travel anywhere, be it abroad or in the UK you're increasing your chances of catching it. Maybe MASSIVELY was a wrong word, but I stand by my comment. I'm not really looking to get into a row with the experts on Spanish holiday. Stay safe one 'n all.

"Has anyone thought of going on holiday, catching covid and having to self isolate for two weeks ! I wouldn't fancy going anywhere

Ok let me put it another way.

I went for my monthly shop in Sainsbury's on Friday and some dude did his entire shop with a chin hammock. No one pulled him up on it. In GC he'd be in the back of a police car.

GC has an infection rate of less than 20 per 100 000 whereas some parts of the UK are way over 400 per 100 000. Airports are practically empty, planes flying with rows of empty seats, strict mask enforcement etc.

Look not to the holiday from a "green" area to give you Covid-19. Look to the schoolkid walking through your door...

As a result of Brexit there are a lot of people looking to obtain residencia in GC right now.

To say wait until 2 December puts them against the Christmas holidays. A failed application at this point puts them into needing to resubmit outside of the 31 December 2020 transition period.

If lockdown is extended on 2 December (which in my opinion is a certainty since it takes 3 weeks for the curve to flatten) then people wanting to apply for residencia are screwed.

An obvious solution would be to extend the transition period because of Covid-19. But since this is a legal impossibility, people are going to be flying to GC for emigration purposes.

Agreed, we have travelled to Greece twice and GC since March and felt very safe at the airports & during the flights, equally so when we have arrived at our destinations.

Of course, it’s personal choice whether you choose to travel or not but scaremongering doesn’t help anyone make an informed decision. x"

I'm not trying to scare but if you remember back to when it started uk citizens were on the phone crying from different destinations wanting to come home but were stuck in eaitger their hotel or cruise becouse covid hot them hard and had to stay in a room. Personally I'd love to go for a holiday and yes I believe it's not as bad in some counties
