Hi guys, Las Palmas is an ace city, vibrant and always something going on. It's the best beach on the island and voted the second best city beach behind Rio.

Loads of shopping ( if that's your thing ) and more restaurants and bars than you could ever get around in one lifetime.

It's very Spanish although still gets it's fair share of tourists but mainly Spanish and Scandinavians.

We love it but we are a bit biased - can you tell haha

You'll have to come up and see for yourself - we know sine good tour guides xx

Bus on the cheap. Taxi if you got cash. Car hire works well if you want to explore

Buses are cheap, easy and comfortable.

Car hire is also cheap and the best way if you really want a flavour of the island.

From PDI, go to Las Palmas but not via the highway (GC-1) past the airport.

Make an early start and take the roads that go directly north through the centre of the island.

It’ll take you three times longer, but the views are absolutely stunning.

Come back the same way for night time views or via the highway and you’ll have had a great day out.

"Do you know what difference level 2 will make?"

If a bar, club etc signs up to the new covid passport they've just brought in then I believe they can use a level lower closing for bars etc, so no difference for some.

For others who don't take the passport, level 2 rules:

Gatherings of 8 people not of same household.

Hotels bars and restaurants Close at 2am.

Sports facilities Open to a maximum of 6 per group.

Transport 50% of capacity.

Markets, Open-air 75%, and Inside 50% of capacity.

Local events Suspended.

Nightlife Outdoor capacity 75%.  Indoor 50%.

Dancing is not permitted

Zurich. NOT London.

Well, as we all need to be double vaxxed to get into the Canaries, it would make sense for clubs to want to see the covid pass, so they don't have to restrict numbers, dancing etc.

I'll just print a few before I fly and take them with me, no big deal. X

My comment was in relation to the current Level 2 restrictions. Clearly the situation could change but as things stand clubs have to close at 2am or 3am if they sign up to the Covid passport scheme.

"Well what happens now all the countries are off the red list do you still have to isolate when you come back from Spain"

As per returning from all countries, you still need to isolate until a negative PCR result is received. As these can be booked at most airport with results the next day, it's only a minor inconvenience.

We can get there with Jet2 as it stands but given the current situation we'll leave booking anything now until nearer the departure date just in case everything gets cancelled.

Assuming we are allowed to travel and there's no issues getting back home (other than the 2 day PCR) then we'll definitely book something at the last minute. We can actually get everything cheaper through Jet2 than we'd previously booked xx

There are some great deals to be had over xmas, especially at the regional airports. Because the unvaxxed kids can't travel, there is more availability for naughty adults!

Can I ask where this info is from please? The statement I read from the Spanish Minister for Tourisn said current regs in place till December 31st and the Canarian Minister has said that Tenerife and Gran Canaria will stay at Level 3 until the New Year.

Thanks.

Great hope it’s as simple as pre departure tests similar to what Portugal is asking for. Our friends from Alicante also said Spanish government also announced they will consult regions before making a decision to evaluate impacts so let’s hope we can all meet up in PDI next week for a drink

18 plus a wind feels quite cold if you're dressed in shorts and a tee shirt.

It's not cold by UK standards, but you do need some warmer clothes for the evening.

Was the Spanish government supposed to be updating their travel and Covid restrictions / requirements by Wed 23rd ?

We've had a look and googled Spanish travel restriction and requirements for entry but can't see any changes

So we'll have a drink out of that same half full glass and hopefully see any one still out there between 21st - 31st Jan

The only change they made was to the rules on mask wearing, you have to wear them outdoors. That was it.

Hope you’re both well

It’s a nice city to visit basically it’s more the local side as PDI is more touristic side of the island, as I’m a local from Las Palmas feel free to ask me anything if you need any help from here

We’ve been out since the 30th December guys staying until the 6th Jan. The place is busy, secrets was good last night and all bars restaurants and clubs are open until 1am.

Masks to be worn when walking around but once in bars and clubs nobody’s really wearing them.

Covid passports to be shown in some places just on your phone wallet is fine. We’ve only had to show ours once thus far to get into a pre booked dinner reservation at the Gold hotel.

Enjoy!! It’s glorious hot weather with not a cloud in sight. Dave and Megs. Xx

hardly anyone wears masks walking around or on the beach. Virtually no-one in restaurants or bars sitting down wear them. All the kiosks have been renumbered and replaced. There are no sunbeds at all. Crap weather and a lot cooler on the way....was 24 today, by the end of the week, forecast to be below 20!

Not sure if that is tongue in cheek or we’re on different islands….!

You don’t have to wear masks on the beach or while sitting in a bar or restaurant.

We’d say most people wear them when walking around the streets or shopping centres.

The weather has been great, between 24C and 27C this week and clear blue skies. Our weather app says 21C towards the end of the week and one day of 20C. In January….!

Maybe we’ve missed something….?

We've been here since the 23rd and can confirm we've had unusually fantastic weather...if you go off the temps at Pharmacies, etc, we've had 28, 29, 33, lowest being 27 degrees Celsius.

We agree that most folk walking around don't mask up properly, but hey, it's the open air, and the Policia Local walk by and drive by and don't say a word....and of course, there's no requirement to mask up while seated at a bar...we've also found that only 50% of places ask for your covid pass too.
