Working in a hardware store, hours were good but for rubbish pay. My day could of been better, boss was rambling on about targets and work performance of the team. Having us all in a meeting trying to rally the troops with high-fives and "fun" games they put on. My soul couldn't sink any lower and then the meeting finally came to an end. "Thank fuck." I muttered under my breath.
Made my way back onto the shop floor fastening my apron as I was walking towards my station. Checking out stock and what I needed to stack the shelves. "4 more hours of this shite." I quipped to my co-worker whilst sarcastically grinning. "2 for me, I've got a doctors appointment." They replied, to which I gave them the middle finger as they turned their back. Made my way into the warehouse and came back out with a trolley full of stock. Wheeled it towards my station and sat down for a minute to compose myself on the trolley. "Right, let's power through this." I said to myself as I snuck my airpod in my left ear.
Heavy techno music begins to blast my left ear, I feel the beat pulsing through my head as I begin to unload the trolley box by box onto the floor. I tear the first box open and it's stock that belongs on the highest shelves. "Fuck, need the ladders for these." I said out loud. Radioed in to see who had the aircraft ladders and was told they were on the other side of the building. "What the fuck are they over there for?" I thought to myself. I begin to walk towards the other side of the building right down the middle of the aisles and then I heard a voice.
"Excuse me. Excuse me!" They said... |
