Interesting. First thought, the swingers are the couple in the open relationship. But then, a single person who actively seeks multiple casual engagements with couples who swap, shouldn't that be a swinger too? They actively seek people who want to swap. |

Technically the single person isn't swapping, merely receiving. I think the enm title probably fits most people. |

Totally agree number of couples wanting a male or female to join for a threesome means of course single people are required on the swinging scene.
But also agree cheating is not swinging. Which is why many swingers prefer to only play with genuinely single people. |

Single people absolutely can be swingers.
What if you are in a swing couple and seperate or partner passes away? You stop being a swinger until you are in a couple again? No.
People who are cheating aren't swingere however. |

In the original true sense of the word maybe but if swinging couples didn't have fantasies involving single males or indeed unicorns then my few years on fab would have been very boring, think of it as a service to the swinging couples community. |

You can be single and still be a swinger.
Lots of couples are only looking for men or women to join them,not partner swapping.

the term swingers applies to people who have multiple partners with whom they engage in sexual intercourse not just people who swap partners . therefore singles can also be swingers and on top of that during their encounters it will happen that singles will get involved with others including other singles and they will swap "partners" during orgies for example .
so i am a fully fledged swinger wether i'm single or not ' thank you very much . |

The original definition in the OP doesn't sit well with me.
Couples just swapping partners is wife/husband swapping in my mind. Not saying they're not swingers, but singles certainly can be too.
Sure, some are just looking for 1-2-1 NSA hook ups and you could argue that's not swinging. But singles meeting couples, multiple other singles, enjoying group play and orgies? Yep. That's swinging. 🤷♂️ |

I think single people who embrace a non monogamous lifestyle and understand the dynamic are very much swingers if that's the word people want to use...
However...I think a lot if single profiles especially male ones(actually single or not) see this as a place to pick people up for casual sex...nothing wrong with casual sex per se, but when it leads to the frustrations and abuse people get when it's not like picking something out of the sexual argos catalogue...it's not cool... |

There are a lot of singles who wouldn't be swingers if they were part of a couple, because they wouldn't want their partner to have the same freedom that they have.
There is something special about being in a relationship, and trusting your partner so much that you don't care what they do as long as it makes them happy. What word you use for that isn't that important

When we initially entered this lifestyle many,many years ago it was called wife swapping & you needed another half to attend a party with, I can honestly say we never came across a single male or female - after a very long break of 20+ years we've come back into it & surprise surprise singles are of an abundance, so much so that it's almost an extension to Tinder or plenty of fish  |

If only couples can be classed as swingers and singles can swing but they can't be classed as swingers, what should we class singles as?
By your own definition, on this single female profile, you can't be classed as a swinger. How should we class you? Obviously not as a swinger as defined by yourself.......

Swinging is as much a social scene as,l any thing else. If you are actively onbtge scene and engaging sicislly and sexually with other people on the scene. Then you are a swinger. Regardless of: relationship status, gender or orientation. |
