Personally, I prefer the hard red line of being swiftly deleted. No messing.

Sometimes it’s so difficult to get through all the messages I get on my single woman profile.

Frequently couples have one half online more than the other and the first one to read it may well mark it unread for review by the other......

Exactly what we do to some extent. If I think the wife might be interested, I leave it unread for her.

We do this on our couples account as well.

I tend to give people a week. If they have been online frequently and after a week its not been read, I will delete it myself.

Lots of people read the message via email notifications and then view your profile in secret mode.

Imagine you are meeting someone in a pub or whatever. If they don't talk back with you, we just move along

I give them a week to reply, save a private note against their profile if they don’t, then delete my message to them, and move on. If they come back to me, great! If not, so be it 👍

For us, no reply means not interested(both ways) Fair enough! No point chasing people who aren’t interested

The only thing that matters after you send a message is a reply.

Every other outcome has the same result - no further contact - whether left on read, not read at all or deleted. 🤷‍♂️

I often mark messages as unread to remind myself to message people back or to show my husband who I’m talking to if I’m interested in them

Just delete your message once youve sent it. Easily dirted.

Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

There is no 'solution' that's going to please everyone, so we have to put our preferences to one side and find a way to make the site work for us... Some degree of compromise is all part and parcel of (fab) life.

I leave a personal note, then delete the message then block so I just won't bother again

We occasionally put messages to unread after initially reading if we need to discuss or haven’t the time to reply after the first read. Reminds us that we have messages that need replying to.
