There's been a bit of flirting being going recently. She's 31 so not a kid.

I have an angel sitting on one shoulder telling me to steer well clear, but on the shoulder is the wee devil telling me to bash on.

What's the verdict guys? would really appreciate feedback.

Niece? Cousins daughter doesn't make her a niece, does it?

I thought that made her another cousin but further down.

Anyway my opinion is she's a relative. So no. Don't be silly.

Maybe a cultural difference.

My cousins are classed the same as my brother or sister and their kids are my nieces and nephews - they address me as such

Second cousin, but with 60 million other people living on these islands, even if you only fancy 1 in 60, you still have a million other people to shag. If you must shag her, save her till last. Make her partner 1,000,001

From a genetics standpoint, it really depends on how you are related - although this would only be of consideration for pro-creation - in which case problems would occur if you shared mitocondrial dna.

As for legal or ethical point of view.....

I'm really close to all my cousins. I have male cousins if in 26 years they wanted to do anything with my daughter I'd take their fucking heads off.

You've probably watched this girl grow up from a baby, it's way too weird. I would steer clear and tell her to stop being so fucking weird as well, Jeremy Kyle material right there.

The fact you have asked the question, is an answer itself - you are already doubting it, which means you are well aware of the consequences, for what, a shag?

If in doubt, don't - that applies to a lot of things in life.

If she is flirting with you, I am sure there are other women that will too, and they will come without the baggage.

Its first cousin once removed (I googled when my cousins daughter was born lol). Its legal to marry your first cousin so don't think its morally wrong but depends how close you are to your cousin and whether you are willing to risk that relationship.

Think you're more concerned about the societal and familial fallout from this, which kind of answers your original post. That said it's not illegal, however, unless you are very sure and can both put up with the tough times ahead, then, good luck to you. Not knowing your family or relationship with them, only you can be the best judge of that. Big however: if you embark on this, then it will get out, it always does. Think carefully!

First cousin once removed technically. Your shared relative is the same as your cousins but one generation apart.

A first cousin is the child of your aunt/uncle - your parents sibling.

A second cousin is the child of your first cousin.

Once removed is if you take the cousin stage up a step.

For example, a first cousin once removed is your parents cousin.

I have several of these as y father was an only child, but his father was the third of six.

"You can legally marry your first cousin so give the op a break "

My Aunt & Uncle were first cousins

Happily married for 40+ years

I think the issue for me in the OPs case would be that it was a relatives 'child' he was looking to get jiggy with as opposed to the family link.

"You can legally marry your first cousin so give the op a break "

You can legally smash your private parts with a hammer but I would not recommend it.

I think regardless of the attraction, it would be the family fallout that would be a huge issue, not to mention, what if it's all in his head and she is not acting in anyway to show interest to him. Other than in a loving family way?
