When we started in the lifestyle we used to be
"cool they have a hot tub to play in"
Now we are like ewwwww keep away from the tub of sperm and other things that may dislodge themselves from a person's body.
Are we OCD ?
Is there a jab you can take ?

I personally really wouldn't use a hot tub in a club, haha! I know most people are really good about personal hygiene, but not everyone is and the thought of the grime and bodily fluids... Bleurgh! |

We stay well clear of them. We have heard some clubs where the local authorities on an inspection have told ownwers to empty and fully clean due to dangerous bacteria. Surely it should never get to that point if they were keeping up the standards of cleanliness. More you can smell chlorine the more likely its not being drained and cleaned properly. They just keep adding the chlorine. Just because a sign is up saying no playing in hot tub doesn't mean everyone adheres to it. |

True and chlorine levels would need to be high just to keep up with the bodies.

We use bghs which has hot tubs, saunas and a pool and they are very hot on hygiene, enforce a no play policy and do very regular water testing

I'm not naive but I'm very squeamish when it comes to hot tubs. I won't go in one if there's a hint that someone has had sex in it, if I think there are more chemicals than the recommended amount, if people I don't like the look of have been in it before me, if people get in without showering or if I see people in it coughing or sneezing. I often sit on the side with just my feet in if Mr N is in there. |

My local club have a strict no sex in the tub policy. They clean it and drain it regularly and any one caught is ejected.

My experience of hottub’s in clubs is that there’s always some dirty old bloke secretly wanking off Hidden by the bubbles so you end up sitting in a soup of spunk ,
I do have my own hottub which is great to socialising in and foreplay but it’s not good if spunk gets in the water also having my own hottub I get to keep the water in much better condition and bacteria free than one in a club which is used by many people |

Exactly why we won't go anywhere near them. People like these take no notice of the rule, no playing in the hot tub. There's lots of people like this who know the club rules, see the signs above hot tub and take no notice what so ever. Some just think rules are there to be broken and have no respect for others |

We love a club hot tub! Townhouse have a zero play in the tub rule along with a max occupancy limit that is enforced. They pass regular spot checks of the water.
We've been to other clubs where the wet areas look neglected. We've used common sense there and not taken the plunge. |

It would be nice if each club had a board saying when their hot tubs were last emptied and cleaned.
I’ve been in one in Chams where people were having sex. Didn’t stay in long but quite often I can’t stay in their long anyway due to the chlorine burning my eyes.
Hot tubs are great and a lovely place to chat and get to know people.

Depends on the tub.
We wouldn't consider getting in the normal domestic type but there are commercial ones that have filtration systems designed for much larger swimming pools.
The tub at VA has it's water turned round by the filters multiple times over 24hrs. I've seen the filter room and it has multiple different types of filtration on it including a high pressure sand filter.
We have been going a few years now and in all that time I've never seen it dirty at all.
We don't use it when it is very busy but on a normal club night it is great to relax and chat in. Never had any issues atall.
We have been to other clubs where the chlorine blinds you it's so strong and even seen one that had green water in it at one club.
Just got to use your judgement.

Four, almost 5 years, doing this and neither myself or my OH have EVER 'caught a STD or any other kind of bacteria' from a hot tub or swimming pool. And we have played with other ppl in hot tubs. In ALL kinds of tubs in different clubs.
Maybe we have 'special parts' that fight the germs. Lol. |

To be fair it's not so much the chlorine and more the amounts of people jumping in without washing/showering off the contaminants on such as perfume or aftershave that reacts with the cleaning agents. That's why it often starts off fine and gets worse as the night goes on. |

If a hot tub is cleaned, maintained and sanitised properly with the correct chemicals there is no chance of catching this!
I’ve had it, but not from a club hot tub, it was from a hired inflatable tub. It was very easily treated with a cream and had gone in a couple of days.
It taught me that proper chemical use and cleaning is imperative in hot tubs. We now own our own tub and we’re careful to ensure we care for the water properly |

"I'm not naive but I'm not too screamish either. Me and My Girl like a fuck in the hot tubs so don't mind clubs that have 'dirty' hot tubs. At the end of the day you make your own personal risk assement. For us the fun far outweighs worries about sharing the same water that others are having fun in.
Exactly why we won't go anywhere near them. People like these take no notice of the rule, no playing in the hot tub. There's lots of people like this who know the club rules, see the signs above hot tub and take no notice what so ever. Some just think rules are there to be broken and have no respect for others
Always obey the rules thank you very much. Some clubs have 'clean hot tubs' some have 'drirty' hot tubs. Very much depends of the club and its rules.

An interesting discussion, and while I’m sure the hygiene of any of the club hot tubs is acceptable (no matter what has happened in there before you), I just don’t understand why anyone goes to the effort of preparing for a night out, to then immerse themselves in a hot soup of who knows what........? |

Shower before you go in and out, VA has showers, same as a swimming pool, their hot tube is well filtered. I'm a bit ocd for cleanliness in a communal situation. So VA hasn't been a problem for me.
More likely to catch something horrible in the sea on a quite swim.
As for hot tubs in general you're actually safe playing in them rather than drinking them, lol. |

Assuming the hot tub is properly maintained, the chlorine or bromine is very powerfully bactericidal. A swinging microbiologist friend of ours said to always jump in the hot tub after sex as it kills off any bugs that have been transferred to the outside of your body (i.e. not blocked by a condom). So they are probably have a positive health influence. |
