We were wondering how many other mtf transgenders who have completed their transformation or who are currently on their journey getting on with life on Fabs.

The nhs program is certainly getting slower with more and more transgender patients being registered with the waiting list ever increasing!

We are happy to chat and compare notes if anyone is interested and wish to discuss their ups and downs. xx

Your transformation would be done much quicker if you applied to a private hospital.... This will leave funds available for emergency procedures..

I had to go private for my CABG operation otherwise I may be dead now...

Seeing as you have no understanding of the situations at hand, why don't you just leave this thread to its initial purpose?

If you wish to discuss the merits of these type of procedures on the NHS wouldn't it be better to start your own thread?

It sucks coz i came on this thread out of genuine interest. Dont really come across FTM's on here. Fabguys and Grindr i do but they're a bit shy on Grindr. Im not but I know a couple of ftm trans, they're not into this kind of lifestyle though.

Impressive profile photo there. Somone I know used to work selling the kit to perform gender reassignment. They also sold penile implants for ED. If you think money should be spent on more important operations then consider what you'd do if you were impotent and couldn't afford to go private.

Not so cocky nor certain now maybe?

I have a friend who transitioned mtf and ended up saving upto have her surgery in Hungary. The cost was around £8k including flights with most of the follow up in the UK under the NHS.

Wishing you the very best. The NHS an be slow but it does get there, as a couple of other friends have experienced.

Well we’ll be there hopefully within a year, well Aleisha will. We are just waiting for the surgeon to give us a consultation date and then the final surgery hopefully 6-8 months from then depending on his busy schedule. It’s been a 4+ year journey so far and with over 3 grand spent on private laser treatment.

Studies have shown that around 45% of young Trans people have attempted suicide and around 80% of Trans people have considered it.

So when there’s Trans people who consider ending their life because of the way they feel about their bodies, for them surgery could be life saving.

I’m sure an extra 0.000006% of the nhs budget would make a massive difference if you didn’t ‘waste’ it on gender affirmation.

My trans friends who went through the whole process certainly felt they were finally able to be themselves after surgery etc. And yes, they had felt suicidal at times earlier in their lives.

Never take it lightly, trans people need specialist medical care and a bit of understanding from us cis people. The despair they often feel is very real. As far as I'm concerned it's NHS money well spent on enabling people to play their full part in society.

Once again, to OP the very best wishes.

The stats I saw weren't much better post op either though. It's not clear that the operation actually makes much of a difference in that regard.

That being said, The NHS wastes so much money elsewhere that's it's hypocritical to pick this to criticise as a money saving exercise.

If you passed a trans woman in the street and shouted "you're a fat man in a dress like Les Dawson" rust would certainly constitute a hate crime.

Hate crime under UK law is an act of hostility towards someone based on who they are or who someone thinks they are.

Hate crime is a crime aggravated by hate, i.e. there must be a crime in the first place.

I see no crime on this thread, only some ignorance and prejudice.

I really do despair at the ignorance of some people. Honestly I do. I have 5 friends that have fully transitioned and others that are on various stages of their journey. Living with gender dysphoria is hell, emotionally and physically, and that's without having to deal with idiots and bigots who have no experience in this area and don't understand the issues. Thank god, we have an NHS in this country that is able to help them. Quite honestly I could cry at some of the comments on here.

Absolutely. I have an American trans friend who had no NHS to help with his top surgery, nor good enough insurance, he was on the brink of wanting to die. Another trans friend I have was so desperate for a hysterectomy he fell in a terrible depression, and wanted to jump in front of a train whenever he got his period. I despair for anyone who needs gender-affirming surgery that can't get it. It literally kills people. Some of the heartless comments here make my heart ache.

I'm genderqueer and questioning, and I've been told I need to wait a whole year for the first basic appointment with a gender therapist. The wait is bloody horrible but I don't have 120 quid a session to go private. We deserve the help on the NHS to deal with our pain, as much as anyone else does.

According to the great Meg-John Barker who is a brilliant resource on this stuff 'Non-binary gender?,and? genderqueer?,are umbrella terms used to describe all people who do not experience themselves as being male or female (i.e. within the gender binary).'

Of course I still don’t understand how that’s possible, but of course I’m not around any of this so my knowledge is limited so sometimes I wonder what’s next

Personally I just see people, dosent matter to me about race, size, sex etc I just wonder how this can be controlled ( and don’t mean in a horrible controlling way in any form ) just people who would abuse the new norm and acceptance

I enjoy reading the forums and have very occasionally made comment. On this subject I was so annoyed when the cost of helping these people was brought into question.

We have probably the most corrupt publicly funded department yes our beloved NHS.Millions wasted on projects that are never used, layers of management that help to protect them at the top. A system that allows people to retire early or take golden hand shakes, only to return to the same job a few weeks later, or take up a new job at another nhs trust, jobs for the boys. Where is the accountability, yes you have guessed it these bodies made up of the people who have taken the golden hand shakes. So sad.
