This case is a milestone as the first and only LRA case to reach a verdict anywhere, others were issued but all have died except one other who is still at large.
Does Ongwen’s role as a child abductee and child soldier in the LRA negates responsibility for crimes he allegedly committed.
Whether Ongwen committed crimes only as a result of duress or had mental defects that negate his responsibility for the crimes.
The significance of these could have big implications for many other cases.
At what point does ones brainwashing as a child stop and decisions one makes subsequently as an adult deemed culprable?
