Not been in December, but not long back from there. Stayed there last month and was well impressed, a big upgrade from the earlier La Mirage.

I can honestly say it is the friendliest place that we have ever been to. Add to that clean and well equipped bungalows that are serviced every day, spotless garden and public areas as well as two jacuzzi's, two play rooms, a bar and a pool - what is not to like?

We have been to Gran canaria twice in December, average daily temperature around 27 degrees, and yes there is a chance of rain, heavy rain, but it lasts maybe 10 minutes, then the sun shines again.have also visited la mirage in that month as a day visitor, and yes it was busy as we couldn't get to stay there, though that was about 5years ago at the older smaller venue.

If you are looking to go to Gran Canaria in November - just go. You will have a good time wherever you go, don't over think it.

We always stay in a 'normal' hotel. Plenty of fun to be had in the clubs at night! We personally like to spend our daytimes on our own, on the beach. Nothing wrong with being in a swingers resort all day, but just not for us. Good luck with your search.

Hiya..Thanks for that, something for us to consider too,we enjoy the beach time too..Just thought as it would be our first time a resort would allow us the chance to chat with other swingers about clubs and night life etc, unlike a "normal" hotel.xx

You are quite right and that is a good idea. There are 2 meeting bars in the Cita centre. Comeback bar upstairs and the new Poison bar downstairs, which I understand many people favour. There you will meet plenty of people to give advice etc on the clubs. That worked for us when we were unsure. Good luck!!x

Hi There, we are just back (sun) from a week at Venus. Have to say that the bungalows are very well presented and recently refurbed, showers particularly good and terraces front and back. A bit tight round the pool though so not much room for sunbeds. We found everything very quiet though, no-one used the pool bar and there was nothing happening, play wise...(except one night when we came in from a club and had fun with two other couples). On the down side, the hot tub is situated under the trees, is a domestic unit for someones back garden and wholly inadequate for the size of the place. We had to ask for the tub to be emptied and cleaned as there was scum floating on it. Even after the water was changed, it had NOT been cleaned...........nice place though, but avoid the hot tub!!

We used to love la mirage at xmas and new year, lots of sexy couples plus day visitors and a great little bar and play area. you have to book early though as it is full at this time of year. We tried to book but it was full earlier than usual this year.

Have stayed in both resorts this November and currently in Mirage. Both are OK largely cheap and cheerful and about a 2 star hotel standard in the UK...

Neither place is for us but glad we looked and we would stay in one of the lovely hotels on the island in future rather than being around swingers all day which we have found isn't our thing.

We personally have had the most fun with people who are on the island and are non British and are staying in a nice duplex, apartment or hotel here and who are not on swingers complexes at all. So there are lots of ways to be here during the Winter months and have fun x

We prefer to be an ordinary hotel. Booked for March in Riu Don Miguel. We just prefer to be on our own during the day, as we are in club every night. Nice to have a break sometimes, must be getting old!! Each to their own, whatever suits the individuals, we are all different, I guess! Enjoy your holidays everyone!!xx

We find that the negative comments about La Mirage to be rather absurd, inaccurate and snobish.

For £360 per week you will have your own self contained bugalow, cleaned each day, fresh towels and bedding. A lovely secure environment, great bar, swimming pool, jacuzzis and playrooms and brilliant staff who will do everything to make your stay enjoyable.

We have stayed in luxury 5 star hotels throughout the world, at a price, but few can compare to the Mirage for value for money.

The fact that this resort is already booked a year ahead is surely proof enough of what a great resort this is.

Mirage is indeed very low cost and good value and booked for this reason. It is cheaper than Venus and has much more space and better facilities.

The suggestion was if these resorts were booked then swingers still have plenty of choice in the lovely non swingers accommodation elsewhere on the island and can still take part in the bars and clubs in the evenings.

Our experience is that one doesn't have to be with swingers 24/7 to have a sexy time in Gran Canaria and we came to that conclusion based upon staying in non swinging accommodation and in both Venus and Mirage over the last 8 weeks.

We personally had the best time and met the most interesting people away from the swingers resorts but others will have a different experience. We equally enjoy meeting international couples rather than British ones and again others will have different preferences. We simply passed our personal experience on through the forum that is all.

We have our tastes and respect others have theirs. The swinging world is not one homogeneous movement it is full of very diverse opinion and perspectives. We have our approach and enjoy it and respect others have theirs and enjoy that too.

Hi..We are staying at Venus and have found it very nice, clean freindly and lots of interesting people of all nationalitys to talk to and play with..Its our first trip to a resort and indeed GC,but we have only heard good feedback about here and La mirage which we are hoping to get to in the new year..We have so far enjoyed every minite of our trip and apart from being accosted on the way to the dunes by time share sharks and Mali beggars its been great with lots of memorys to take away..taken in everyones differing veiwpoints but from a personal standpoint,as value for money goes who needs 5 star when you have everything you need....xx

Just to clarify.. Mirage is lovely had a nice time there, staff (especially Wendy) are great and for 73 euros its beyond super cheap and good value... hence its always booked up...

Other guests on the complex are fine and very friendly and nice to chat to and keep themselves to themselves. Its a chilled relaxed atmosphere.

Regarding fun its who is there at the time you are and if you fancy them. That didn't happen for us but I am sure it does for many people. We were simply reporting our experience. We could go another time and meet an amazing couple we develop a long term connection with but that is to do with who is there and not the resort.

We enjoyed it...and are sure that anyone who stays there will too... We have had email from people not staying there that found our post about alternatives useful so again to clarify that was the purpose of the post.

Have fun and enjoy the beautiful December weather xxx

Let's not try to convince too many people just how wonderful La Mirage is. It is hard enough to get a room as it is.

You are right, it's not always about where you stay, but who you meet. As we've said previously, we are not 24/7 swingers, so prefer 'ordinary' hotel and that does not mean 5*, just somewhere clean to sleep and shower. But a lot of our friends do enjoy La Mirage, so each to their own to make for a lovely holiday!

We've been going to la mirage since it first opened and that was the first resort with the 12 bungalows. It's normally twice a year we go March and October and we've always had a great time, but as with any holiday it's the people there that can make or break your stay. We've always meet nice and friendly people, couples from far and wide. The staff are excellent, the bungalows cleaned daily by some great girls, the gardens and footpaths are always clean and tidy. The bar is reasonably priced for food and drinks and happy hour is always fun, the ladies (and some guys) get dressed up and there's always some wonderful sites ! We love the place and always praise it which is why it's becoming so very popular and getting harder to book so with that in mind it's a shit hole don't go LOL
