In Bangkok, set aside one night for a tour of the red light district. Leave your hotel sometime between 22:00 and 23:00, and take a taxi to “Soi (as in sauce) Cowboy”. You’ll need a piece of paper with the name and address of your hotel written on it in Thai for the return taxi driver. Assuming you’re dropped at the six-lane Asoke Montri end, wander all along Cowboy enjoying the sights, until you reach the two-lane Soi 23 end. Turn right, and pop into the Crazy House for refreshments. I reckon this is the best Go-go bar in Bkk.

From Crazy House, retrace you steps along Cowboy, and turn left on Asoke Montri. Walk along the pavement to the pedestrian crossing over the six-lane on your right. Cross over with the crowd and head for Nana Plaza, about a mile away. To make sure you’re on the right track, the next crossing will be Soi 19, with Terminal 21 on the high side, and the Westin Grande hotel on the low side.

After strolling along Sukhumvit odd side for half an hour or so, you will come to the one and only pedestrian crossing, on your left. You’ll see a McDonald’s on the other side to the right. Cross over with the crowd and walk almost straight ahead into Soi 4. The pavement is very narrow at this time of night. After about 20 metres, you’ll find the entrance to Nana Plaza on your left. Venture in, and have some refreshments in one of the seven ladyboy go-go bars. The men are truly astonishing!

If you think you may want to take a ladyboy back to your hotel, go to a bar on the first or second floors – they get fewer customers, and may be cheaper. Ladyboy go-go dancers cost at least twice as much as girl go-go dancers, so the bar fine will be at least B1,000, (not negotiable) and the man may ask at least B2,000 short time – try to bargain. When you enter and sit down, someone will sit beside you. Buy him a drink, and tell him what “endowment” you are looking for: big, medium or small. Pick the best-looking one of those he indicates. Your choice will sit beside you. Buy him a drink too and start bargaining. It is probably not a good idea to take a free-lancer (street) ladyboy to your hotel – they have a bad reputation.

To return to your hotel, when you leave NP, cross Soi 4, turn right and walk back towards Sukhumvit on the “dead” side of the road. Take one of the taxis waiting in the queue for the pedestrian lights on Sukhumvit.

Enjoy your trip.

Echo what was said about Bangkok re soi and Nana. Although Nana isnt for the feint hearted ...Pattaya rather then teh tourist walking street head up to I think soi 6 or 7 which has some off the wall bars and experiences. Phuket there is Bangla road which get pretty crazy, however there are some fabulous beaches if you rent a car and scope the Island. Phi phi is such a chilled place, plenty of music bars and nice restaurants. Look out for the boxing bar which is also highly entertaining with tourist slugging each other for a medal and free bucket of drink! Unfortunately you havent given enough time for your Thailand tour as there are many more wonderful Islands to explore but have fun.
