We used to live for years just walking distance from what are known locally as "the gay bys". Believe it or not in that time two of them lost their lives making illegal right turns out of them and into the oncoming traffic. The police and the council cut all the bushes back after a mother and daughter were assaulted one Friday afternoon when they came across a male gang bang. |

Incorrect. The males involved made lewd comments to the mother and proceeded to think it fun to rock her car. |

You can say it didn't happen till the cows come home, it did. We were good friends with Neil who had the burger van in that layby. The incident happened shortly after he had packed up for the day on the Friday afternoon, which is when the gayby starts to get busy for the weekend. The police told him all the gory details, drug taking beingnpart of the reason why rhe police and the council clamped down so hard - I remember the latter clearing and thinning all the trees and bushes to deliberately make the layby highly visible from the road. |
