Anyone who has been tested at Newbury between 3rd and 12th October and received a negative result needs to be retested, as false negatives were recorded at the laboratory

If someone has already been going into work and the shops with Covid for nearly two weeks it seems a bit pointless retesting them.

I agree, bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted

Indeed

You'd be mental to get retested, knowing you are likely to still register a +ve and star a 10 day isolation, 2 weeks too late. Pointless

What about false positives?

It's not the only testing centre that has given false negative results. Thousands were given from a company set up last year, that's had a contract for over £100 million, for people tested over the last month.

People who have been infected will be able to highlight people who they have potentially infected too. This could include those who are terminally ill, with weakened immune systems etc.

"What about false positives? "

It's a major issue of false negatives that have been notified to people
