I’m interested to know views on the best, most reliable but also not too expensive.

I don’t need instant results, as it’s more for just regular testing than having symptoms.

What are the best companies?

"Ah cool, you got a link?"

Search SH:24

If you’re going to include an HIV test be prepared for a low reactive result as the online tests can flag due to their sensitivity

It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re positive

If you get this you can get a more focused test at a centre that will give you a more definitive result

Just go to your local clinic, they take samples which are tested within a four hour period, cultures started the same day, so you know all your samples are viable. Nice friendly non judgemental people who can answer your questions.

In Edinburgh, the NHS clinic posts out sampling kits which you do and then return via any GP practice

In Wales or my area at least they send it all out via post. You fill in a form etc, it's brilliant. They even send lube and condoms if you request them ☺️

About Town

If you have a postal kit, don't post the samples in this heatwave. I had a very stressful week recently with a false positive from a blood sample that had haemolysed in the postbox.

My HiV and Syphilis blood tests both haemolysed in the post last week but the result was posted as unsuitable for testing rather than a false positive, so I need to retest. The Hep sample I drew at the same time but posted in a separate box tested fine though.

That's always going to be a problem posting samples, there is a time limit on their viability.

I think for the blood, it has to be within six days. I check the tracking and it always reaches the lab first thing on the morning after posting. However, in 6 years of doing the postal tests, this is the first time I've had a false reactive.

I had an HIV oral home test sent from NHS Scotland. First time ever using that… a swap round your gums and then into some liquid… easy as pie, and no drawing blood

Are the results instant, or does it have to go to a lab?

Yes, clinics run the best tests by far, they do everything that your situation requires, including throat and rectal swabs, and you get information on vaccinations, PreP etc....

The only downside is they only send a text "your test results are negative" , so it can be an issue to show a proof of testing to someone else.

I wouldn't pay as you get identical tests via the NHS. I'd also encourage people to visit clinics, as the staff are so helpful and can increase your knowledge and make suggestions for you

How about stop doing the things that cause you to be shopping for home test kits in the first place.

How about not shaming people for getting tested regularly?

Excuse me? Why are we shaming people who test AS THEY SHOULD??

I always play safe. Always. And yes, I still test regularly.

Imo sexual health is as important as everything else (mental health, physical health etc)

The other downside for us is that the one in our town is only open when we are at work.

If your sexually active with other people, like in swinging , then you should get tested regularly and so should everyone else

So a bit of a strange comment
